I decided to go cold Turkey. 22 years 20-30 a day smoker. Two weeks in to quit no coughing at all no runny nose. However extreme bouts of fatigue pretty much daily constant brain fog and distraction. Ravenous appetite and occasional optimism for bouts of energy before fatigue crash.

Wendy Ooh let me know fatigue lasts months on occasions so thanks Wendy. In the U.K. where I live the advice is 2-4 weeks one will be free of fatigue and like the tampon ads out exercising roller skating playing tennis- all poppycock! The advice here is also avoid caffeine- I’ve had to increase mine to avoid sleeping 16 hours per day.

I like this forum we have nothing like this in the U.K. - the advice is scripted so well done NSW and everyone contiributing!😀👍

I can relate to the fatigue. I have been smoke free for 8 days and find I am quite often wanting to have a sleep.

Apparently this is very common and it makes sense - nicotine is a stimulant and the lack of nicotine in your body will take a bit of getting used to.

Keep pushing thru mate, I’m sure things will get better and enjoy those coffees!

Thanks Keith! I’m enjoying about 10 coffees per day currently!

I’ve started taking vitamin supplements to try and negate the the tiredness a week or so in early days yet to see results- if that helps it would be around 2-3 weeks after taking minimum I’d say.

How long does increased appetite last mate do you know?

I’m not sure about the appetite but it is common to see people put on weight after quitting.

My advice would be drink a ton of water each day and eat a plate full of steamed or boiled vegetables between meals if hungry. This will help suppress the appetite and keep you full whilst taking in minimal calories.

I’ve started walking for an hour each night also which keeps my mind off things. I hope this helps somewhat.

Thanks Keith- I think you are on to something with the walking mate. I do need to drink more water. And better manage the food intake.

Presently I’m gaining a stone every 3 weeks.

👍😂
