Staying Quit

I’m still having a craving or 2 most days. They can be really difficult to deal with. I have to keep reminding myself that I have made the decision and that to go all the way to the start again would be a disaster.
I find social situations the hardest, also something to do when sitting outside. I saw some people on their break from work having a smoke together and it made me want to have one.
However there is every good reason to stay quit and no really good reasons to smoke. It’s not just about the money saved but my health well being and self confidence.
I remember that I have done this cold turkey and that is hard to do. I have weak moments where the thought slips in that I actually need to smoke -that’s when I have to re-examine or revisit my reasons and be super strong.
I just want to get through to new year now cos then I know I’ve really done it.

Like you I started cold turkey and by day 4 went and bought the gum. You are doing really well. The gum I only have a few times a day. However, I have made the decision to have a quieter New year, which means I won't be spending time with my smoking and drinking friends. Even though its been 10 days, I don't want to go backwards. Yes it's hard, but eventually will be worth it. 1 day at a time

Hi Now Time, thanks for your comment. It sounds like you’re trying hard which is great. Thank you for your support, I have turned a corner with it all and I feel much more free inside I have broken free of the chains .

We can do what we put our minds to. Congratulations on making wise decisions based on knowing you. Alcohol can so often make us forget how hard we worked to get to this point and then have us throw it all away only to start over again.
A little tid bit... Alcohol and caffeine diminished the affect of nicotine when we smoked which is why we smoked more while drinking them. Too much caffeine can make quitters feel jittery or anxious and is mistaken for withdrawal.
