Good morning,

Day 3. My mood dropped dangerously low late yesterday. I know from experience that it might happen and I distracted. It helped the craving, but my mood is low and I’m scared of the consequences. That stresses me and gives me more cravings.

I feel like I’ll start smoking again anyway and what’s the point? I can’t visualise myself being a non smoker.

Yggy I can hear your mood drop and I just want to reach out and let you know you are not alone even if it is in spirit only. We are all here and lots of us can identify with your mood at some stage in our quit. Yggy it may be worth calling the I can quit line and talk to one of the many great councillors they have certainly helped me in the past when I thought nobody could. Good for you for reaching out here and sharing on what's going on for you. Quitline number is 137848 it is an awesome support for those times when we need just that little extra. Stay with us whether this is your time to quit or not. Well wishes with it all ❤️🙏😊

And a huge congrats on your day 3 🙌

Hi yggy! Congrats with day 3!!! As I recall, around day 3 was my hardest but I just plowed through. I stayed close to this community and read story after story. I spent lots of time on this site.

Just think, when you are ready to cave in for a cigarette, wait one hour to see how you feel. If you are anything like me, my desire went away and I became proud I got through the hour with no problem. Just do the one hour at a time, one day at a time.

Drink water, breath deep and go to bed EARLY! Just keep thinking you do NOT WANT TO BE A SMOKER! You do NOT want to continue with an addiction. Stay with us, we ALL have been on day 3. You are certainly not alone. I find posting to be very therapeutic, continue sharing with us. Hang in there and march onto day 4!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

Be proud of getting to day 3 Yggy, many don't even get to the 3rd hour!

Think of it as a promise. Would you break a promise? Why would you break a promise to yourself then? We allowed

nicotine to rule our thoughts and how we managed our time and money. We let it rule our lives. Think about it.

I mean really THINK about it. Would you let another person order you about like that? What does it do for you?

Smoking really does NOTHING....how can you miss nothing?

Haven't you better things to do with the time and money?

Think about good things and good times when you are feeling low.

Nicotine hit our dopamine sensors.....so get a dopamine hit through other pleasureable things. Chocolate, lavendar, hugs, talking to friends, and doing things that you enjoy. Plan special things to do with your money saved. Rewards for your achievements help to motivate you. I hope that we motivate you. We believe that you CAN do this and hope that you will also believe it. Read how we all encourage others to quit because we love our freedom and are proud of ourselves for doing something that we never ever thought that we could do.

We did it and so can you Yggy. Think positive!

Hi All,

Thank you for your kind comments and encouragement. Unfortunately I have in this afternoon. I can’t deal with the mood drop and was too upset & forgot to talk to my GP about it today. I don’t like thinking of myself as a failure, I lasted nearly 3 days. My life is a bit wobbly at the moment. I know it’s not an excuse, but I can’t really remember why I want to quit today. I read all my reasons but they don’t make sense. I can make it to 4 days next time, it’s not like it’s all over? I really need to talk to my GP about the mood drops :(

Practice makes perfect. You keep learning about yourself and your relationship with the smokes. When you can alter that , perhaps by permitting yourself to use them as meds and taken in private.....when you can stop getting any pleasure from them other than to prevent a craving which it itself causes, when you can see how boring smoking is and how time consuming it can be....

It is much easier to just quit the once and stay quit. Work on the mindset . Be in a happy spot when you decide to try again, but soon.....and NEVER give up! You CAN do this when you are ready and WANT to.

schedule 3 Sep 2021

Hello Yggy. It happens. When you are ready to quit you will do fine. You NEED to be ready and make up your mind else you will be wasting your time. It took several practice runs for me too, but I finally got there. You lasted nearly 3 days so I do think you are pretty serious about quitting. You need to WANT to quit more than want to smoke!

We are all behind you and don’t forget about us. Okay? Just believe there WILL be a next time and you WILL be ready and you WILL have your final quit. Keep reading and best wishes.
