Hi 😊

I am nearing my final smoke - tonight.

I’m anxious. I’ve stopped smoking more times than I can remember and I even lasted 10 years once. I started again when my mental health deteriorated and smoked on and off for 5 years now. I’m anxious because I know my mood can drop quickly and drastically and I’d like to know if some of you have tips on how to stop smoking while managing ongoing mental health issues. I really want to stop for good this time.

Thanks & have a nice day 😊

Welcome Yggy, never mind about past attempts, actually 10 years tells us you are a professional, you know what it takes. A lot of us have had heaps of stop starts of an experience with smoking in the past. I agree 110% with Robn, get excited don't fear it, we are not Drs or pple than can offer medical advice, but I seriously doubt smoking helps anything at all. Stay close to the forum, post often, we are in your corner, you can do this, we believe in you, so please believe in YOURSELF, you are worth it!!🙌

Believe what Robyn told you. We were drugged by nicotine and brainwashed into believing we enjoyed smoking. The truth is that we just thought that we were too weak to overcome it and too afraid to stand up to the nicomans wrath. You weren't......and neither were millions of others. When I joined and saw that it was possible, I made the decision to finally end the ridiculous cycle that was destroying my health and bank account. It was actually easy for me when I realized how much it ruled my life as well. It took me over 40 years, but I am finally free and enjoying life.

Do you know of anyone who wished they smoked? The life of a non-smoker is great and you know that. I don't see why you of all people should have a problem with that. As we know, one puff leads to thousands of cigarettes and dollars, the drug is insidious. That is why we promote NOPE....Not One Puff Ever! I also suggest that once quit, people should check in here and not only reinforce their quits, but help others in return.

Hello Yggy and welcome. To be honest, I think we all have mental health issues from time to time in one way or another.

I see you took the first step towards quitting for good... congratulations. You must commit yourself to the fact you WANT to quit. Cold turkey, patches, gum,.. anything is a great start. However you do it, just DO IT!!! One hour at a time, one day at a time!

You absolutely came to the right place. The three members that submitted comments before me know what they are talking about. Read and learn. Poke around this site and you will find a story (or two) that will come close to how you are feeling, as if they were your words. This will convince you that YOU are NOT alone! Again, welcome aboard and I look forward to hearing how you are doing. DON'T GIVE UP!

Day 2 is over.

What a roller coaster 😖 but I did it, with some professional help and my knitting instead of smoking strategy. I went for a walk too. I put my reasons and strategies up my wall, so I can keep reading & adding as I go.

How’s everyone and how’s your journey going? Take care
