I just wanted to share my experience of quitting smoking. Don't know why but today I have a lot of anxiety. First let me tell you my quit day was rather forced on me. I had a hart attack on 15 April. No surgery needed, 3 stints in me now. I had been a smoker for a solid 30 years (I'm 55 and live in the US) and smoked a 1/2 pack a day for the last 8 years. After no smokes for the first 5 days without any sort of medication or NRT I started Chantix on my 5th day of not smoking. Well for everything has went really well. Oh trust me I still long for a cig w/ my morning coffee, but it's thought only. But for some reason I'm riddled w/ anxiety today. All daylong. I found this site by chance after Googling quitting smoking after 5 weeks. Just wanted to put my experience out there to see if anyone else has went through a day racked w/ anxiety and how they worked through it. Thanks.

Many come and have different complaints. Focus on the positive changes.....immediately your blood pressure is lower, you begin ridding your body of toxins, you smell better immediately....and you taste food better and the sense of smelling also returns. While we may have cravings as reminders of feeding times, be thankful that you no longer have to bend to that demand. You are in control again. Be happy with the positives and the anxiety will dissipate. Do things that make you happy and replace those jolts of dopamine to your sensors.

Embrace the quit fully , every day. You will love the new life when you stop fearing it. Enjoy it. It is the best decision we can ever make.
