Look at the brighter side.

This is one of my many attempts to quit smoking. Last year during the same time i managed to do it for 2 months and then i succumbed to the cravings. This year i have again started this process from scratch. its been 4 weeks since i quit. initial period were very tough especially the morning cravings and after office hours craving. However, i focused only on the benefit parts. I ensured that i daily ran for 5 km. This has helped me immensely. After two weeks i started to notice more richness in taste and smell and i can actually enjoy my meals. After ten days insomnia set in. but i was aware of my last year's experience, so i just hung in there. After 3 weeks sleep is returning back to normal. The color of my lips my gums have been improving. Obviously the financial benefit cannot be ruled out. keeping my fingers crossed. I just believe i can get rid of this dependency in life. Wish me luck. will share further details in another part.

Never give up and believe that this is the final atempt.. you have set up your mind in positive way, and you will be able to defeat not just nicotine, but everything in your life.. keep going posting, I would like to see you next year this time say, I did it.. :)

I think that you are more positive this time. Frame of mind and a strong desire to change will have you succeed. This quit is different and you have joined a group of peers who understand you. which I truly believe does help. We quit and you can do. I hope you will read, learn, think positive and succeed. Keep in touch, and help others along the way..

Welcome Sushil, I too had a few false starts, I could say you are in front regarding the habitual process and what to do, now you need to keep the mind from straying too far. My best antidote for this for me was NOPE (not one puff ever) said to yourself or written out every single day. This will get through to your mind that this is the last quit.
Learn from others and above all find the happiness in every moment of every day, this will guarantee your success long term.

Sushil: You can do this. I too over the years have had many quit/restart/quit attempts. The cravings last for a long time, but this group (I have no idea how long it's been going) is wonderful. People are so supportive and one of the things we've all learned over the years is that group support is one of the best avenues to keep motivation going whether it's losing weight, quitting alcohol, PTSD, anger management -- and the list goes on.
Don't give in. The cravings only last for a few moments. Take deep breaths. Go for a walk -- and stay away from coffee in the morning and alcohol. As someone pointed out in this group -- the triggers for everyone are different. You know what they are because you've quit before so be aware of them.

I have crossed the one month mark. I am also slowly getting back my taste buds, even my heart rate has moderated. I have started getting better sleep which i have always longed for. Yes temptations do barge in at times when i m stressed. Even for me it is NOPE.
I have lighted a cigarette but never took a puff. A thing very hard to believe but it is a fact that i have not taken a single puff since last one month. One must be wondering why light a cigarettes then. Its mostly because this time i am little superstitious.. In the past when ever i started this process I used to announce it to everyone and i guess under so much scrutiny i used to buckle. So this time around no body knows even my workmates who were my constant companion in my smoke donot know i am trying to quit . Well guys, temptation is not there as of know. cravings returns sometimes. but i am trying to keep the things in my mind why i left and all the benefit i am reaping right now. I will share more of my experiences later. Good luck everyone.
