Intense cravings scared me

Hi Everyone, Im Charki and I quit smoking in September, just over 3 weeks ago. I thought I had gotten through my worst cravings to smoke especially the physical ones but today was a whopper of a day. Over 3 hours of intense cravings to smoke. My brain was giving me a hard time I tell you. I had a deadline on a project for my boss and was falling behind stressing. Working from home and trying to keep myself focused on my work writing. Did you think I could write clearly.. no! My brain was too busy yelling at me to have a smoke. In the end I had to just accept that I would miss the deadline and took myself and my dog for a walk, just to relieve the stress and think of something else. It was nice actually. My body was healthier and I enjoyed having energy and took deep breaths as I hiked through the local parkland. My dog loved it too. Still it was a bit scary how intense and long those cravings were. It was very uncomfortable. Oh and I did get the work into my boss finally, be it a few hours late.

Congratulations Charki on getting through your 3 week glitch, the way you’ve handled it was textbook,I think it’s admirable how you put your health before your work deadline and went out with your dog and made work wait, with your mindset and ability to prioritise I think you’ve got this quit well and truly in the bag, keep going your doing fantastic, have a lovely smoke free day 😀👌

As difficult as it was, you did it. Remember that. You are stronger than nicotine and a thought. Ignore the thoughts, don't enter into a debate with them. Once you do they keep on nagging.......just turn and walk away, which is what you did in the end.
Engaging in other things will get your mind off of it, just like when you have a toothache. Toothaches get worse, but cravings do lessen. One day you will wonder what all the fuss is about.

Nice one. Think there is a danger of this from time to time for up to three months after you quit. It takes that long for the brain chemistry to go back to normal. But the cravings should be nothing compared to what you've already been through and just remember keep going.

Yay Charki,
such a good way to dispel your craving while stressed,go outside and walk it off, so nice to hear your story and glad you now have prospects in the new year.
