Quit using acupuncture. I'm 44 days smoke free, but it seems im very anxious, depressed, and angry. However, I've had anxiety problems before I quit.. Nothing seems to help, im taking one day at a time but struggling. I go for walks, and chase a 2 year old. Did anyone else have a raise in anxiety that lasted so long..

Welcome Bmroberts, everyone is different and 44 days is still early on. What you are experiencing is common to some, you need to practice positive thinking in respect of feeling anxious. You can overcome this, it needs to get deep in your psyche our thoughts can be overcome once you respect your own self.

Practice daily either self talk reading your notes on why you wanted to stop smoking writing or saying any Mantra you want to develop eg: I will not be angry or depressed about anything today. At night develop a practice of sayings eg: When I wake I will be happy and refreshed and ready for the day with love for myself and others. (something like this)

It has been some time since I had young ones to chase after, the point is really there is no need to chase. I have a little princess Shih Tzu who is like a baby at times and does try me, but hey what love they give you cannot be underestimated. Be happy your little darling can run around. Be happy you are not smoking near her anymore.

Thank you for the reply and the good advice. I guess reading how most aren't anxious and such by this point. Makes me worry I'm not gonna make it.. Having COPD I just can't afford to fail..

I definitely do need to talk more positive.. I tend to overthink things, lol.. I won't give up, i love seeing and chasing my toddler..

Blessings!

Acupuncture is not widely known here, but I imagine as with any method of quit, the psychological acceptance is just as important as ending the nicotine addiction.

Those who use willpower, rather than changing how they feel about smoking tend to suffer prolong the quit. Learn about Nicotine and you. How we can stop when we understand why we started. Knowing that smoking never did anything for us at all......Desire freedom more than wanting that stinky tube of poison. Read and learn about the positive thinking and mindset.

Have ypu tried the 'Smiling Mind' app? It's very useful for mindfulness meditations which only take about 5 minutes, but can really help people to stay grounded. All the best 🙄

Hi bmroberts i get lots of relief from anxiety with short meditations, the previous post mentioned a useful app and there is also a great free meditation by sarah blondin called fear unmasked i just google it than play it. I also put my hand on my heart when having anxiety and just kindly acknowledge to myself that I am experiencing anxiety and ask myself what would help it eg a cup of tea , a warm bath, a meditation, some breathing exercises etc. Be Kind and gentle with yourself as you would be if it was a dear friend or child telling you they were experiencing anxiety. All the best

It is funny how the mind works. Since my stroke i developed a hammer toe, or claw toe which curls when i am stressed physically. If I strain to lift something for example it curls under and hurts. I first noticed it when dancing. I have always loved to dance, but stepping sideways set off my toe. Nothing threatening or difficult, but hammer toe is a neurological problem . So i talk to my toe, reassure it and it will unclench and refrain from digging in. The music set it off more than just stepping sideways. A phycological issue , just like cravings. I sometimes threaten to tie it up (use an aid) and so it behaves. We can get back control of our minds and lives.
