Dreaded day 2

So I’m sat here eating an apple when I’d love to go and light a cigarette right now! I’ve been using nicotine patches to cut down since 06/07/20 and my quit date I set myself was yesterday 10/07/20, not because I felt the need to rush but because I found it SO easy to go from 15+ a day to just one the day before I quit, that I didn’t even enjoy! I can’t shake the cravings and the actually the thing about it that’s bugging me isn’t the fact I can’t have a cigarette, I just can’t understand why I want one! I’m sat there knowing they’re disgusting, bad for my health and the rest of it..but ooooh one puff could be just what I need..then, NO you idiot?! They don’t even taste nice what will you be getting out of it? WHY am I so hooked on these things when I can’t find ONE positive for smoking them! I feel weak and frustrated..but I’m not quitting on quitting..please tell me it gets easier though!

Hi paige I can assure you it will get easier.
And yes smoking does nothing for us what so ever
You need.to really want to give up smoking.
I have been 1 month now smoke free and I feel that cravings are a lot less and I don't want 1 so much anymore.
I do have cravings but nothing like week 1
It does get easier.
Have a read at the allen carr book it's very good.
I got a health scare and that stopped me smoking straight away.
In still only in my 20s
And so if you still have good health please do give them.up be thankful you have your health and give them ciggeraties up before it does something to your health. I promise you they are not worth smoking
You just have to find a distraction.
This website is great start
Read peoples stories and you will get more motivation.
It's a mind game you need.to take control and say NOPE
not one puff ever 💪💪

P.s everyday that will go by you will get stronger and stronger against smoking and.you will be able to get through a craving.

Thank you so much for your reassurance, I’m only 22 myself, smoked since I was 16, I’ve tried at least 5 times that I can count to quit before. Once was when I fell pregnant and I quit for a whole year using an e-cigarette but found myself attached to that and one night off with friends who were smokers led me straight back into the rut! I’d say I’ve never wanted to smoke but that would be a lie as I’d have never started. I am so willing to quit for good this time as I’ve recently also managed to ditch the alcohol, not that I was an alcoholic so it doesn’t compare really But it’s all because I want to change my life, be positive and be a true role model for my son :) thank you again for your kind words, drawing, cleaning and decorating keeping my mind as busy as possible until I can find work again. “NOPE!” Haha I like it!

🤣 I learnt that nope word here on the page it's very helpful
I also tried many time to quit but like.i said I got a health scare and straight away any desire to smoke left me and never really came back.
Yea of course keep busy and yea if you can read allen carr book it's great way to keep you motivated not to smoke.
I often look up video of reasons to quit and pics and yea straight away I think mmm i dont want to smoke.orr smell that a dirty ciggeraties again.
You can do it really be positive strong
Keep a focus on been a role model for your son. He will appreicate you been around more instead.of been outside smoking.
I also stooped drinking aswell as.i thought if I drink I will smoke
I have not had a drink now for at least 2.5 months i was preparing to stop smoking then. And i kept going back smoking untill one day yea.i got a scare and never put another to my mouth since.
It's a mental game and the craving will pass.

I smoked for 15 years and this is the 1st time I have got as far as a month and tend to keep going strong and be positive on the good things in life as a non smoker.
Getting out health back to good health

Oops missed you mentioning alien Carr book, I have read it before around a year ago, I found it helpful in parts but I’m not much of a reader so I don’t think I enjoyed it enough to appreciate it. I know I have an advantage of doing this young, so thankful I have this attitude right now I don’t think I’d be so strong later in life! Thanks again!

Hi Paige, I know how it feels to have done it before even though I was sure I wouldn't succumb to smoking again. This site was a tremendous help along with the Mantra NOPE (not one puff ever) Practiced every day without fail, this gets into your deepest thoughts.
You might also benefit from finding different reasons as to why you succumbed in the first place by viewing the video on u tube called "How to grow to be a happy non-smoker" presented by NASIA DAVOS - TEDxUniversityofPiraeus. One thing might resonate with you, and once recognized you can then change slowly over time.

You have been given awesome advice. While nicotine is an addiction , the act of smoking, even vaping can be the most difficult and longest part to overcome. The strangness, or anxiety, fogginess or other manifestations will pass more quickly if you understand it is normal and temporary. It will all pass quickly if you choose to look at quitting as something desireble which you do, to your credit. When urges arise, know you are winning and substitute that bad habit with a good new one. A phone call, a game, exercise or a few deep breaths will help them to pass.
It is a mindgame. Keep positive!

Im feeling the same, actually to the point of wanting to hide my want from my family. Not a constructive move at all and for WHAT!! Im going to have to dig my feet in and keep going in the right direction. One of these days I wont feel short of breath for being stupid.
