Biting the Bullet

I am nervous about quitting (again)! I am now 52 and have been smoking full time since 16.

It is something that I have to do as I am noticing shortness of breath becoming more pronounced. It probably doesn't help that working from home has seen my daily intake increase.

I have chosen Mon 29th June as my start day! Here goes!

I think my link to the book is still available and free! Read stories and find the confidence in yourself to ace this mission. We have been brainwashed long enough. Read and learn the truth. Let go of the past and move on to a brighter future. You can quit smoking.

Welcome Gerry 1511. We are all here to help you through those anxious moments, continue with your posts and let us all know how you intend to quit, either Cold Turkey or NRT it doesn't matter how long you have smoked or or how old you are, if Health reasons are part of the story then by all means include these. Whatever the reason the intention and maintenance to remain quit is paramount and not insurmountable, read and learn and research videos as much as possible. You might find reading others posts helps you too.

Thank you all for the support.

I admit I am moving to vape - at least in the short term.

Just had a health check and there is some damage due to smoking so I can't ignore it any longer.

4.5 days to go!

I am liking this site already - good to know you are not alone :)

Hello again Gerry. We have had success with some who used vaping as a step in quitting smoking. I hope they can give you some advice.

While it is the nicotine part that is addictive and the tar most harmful to your lungs, other additives that are harmful we cannot be guaranteed that vaping is any better long term. So if you use it as an nrt I think it has it's place in a quit, but best to also put an end to ASAP. You will still need to overcome the void that it in turn will leave. The psychological part of quitting smoking or vaping ( as we have been admonished for calling it smoking, yet it is inhaling into your lungs) is the longest and hardest part of overcome from what i have read from others. Look to replace the action with a positive one as you cut down on vaping.

Total freedom is great!

You can quit smoking and vaping!
