I recently fell off a 15 day quit, I smoked 3 cigarettes, and I thought what am I doing! I was disgusted with myself, I am now on my fifth day of my current quit and now instead of just one patch I am also using two Lozenges, one at the start of the day and one at the finish of the day, plus I motivate my self each day through a spiritual connection. Heres to hoping this one goes the distance, I am about to go out on my walk.

Cheers

Dear Jatchat, what you did by starting over is really commendable.

Please note that to see heavens one must first die!!

Hence yes, you have to stay on ground with a single target for atleast 3 to 4 weeks. Think like you are training your mind. You are not defending or denying it. This will help you to fool ur thoughts because mind is very powerful if not tamed. If u pass a message that it is deprived of nicotine for ever, it will rebel like a child who doesn't know that parents are denying him a stuff for his own better good.

I am staying quit from 1.5 yrs now and trust me the real struggle only last for initial 3 to 4 weeks.

My friend, this is a subject where you will hve many teachers but u have to walk your own talk. In young ages, we got to get prize and punishment from our parents in the process to develop good habits but here you are the judge jury and hangman urself.

Think what you want - that puff of cigg which spoil ur hard work and make u feel disgusting after smoke or the proud feeling of overcoming the devil.

Trust on my word NOPE is the mantra to success- NOT ONE PUFF EVER.

read my earlier post to have a glimpse of my ups and downs in the journey . Reading long time quitters will help you to envisage ur to be milestones and you can also see where you will see ur self in next 3 6 9 or 12 months.

Happy quitting!!!

Like a child not looking ahead but wanting what he wants NOW. A very good analogy. We rebell being told what to do, yet we know if is for the best. I think we secretly were afraid to try quitting for decades because we didn't believe we could, so why go through the hardship. We let nicotine rule our lives but have come to the realization that we too can break free. Dare to challenge it and persevere. You Can!

Eight weeks done and the 14 mg patch is proving to be tougher than I thought, having to use gum and occasional lozenge to quell the urges, I will battle on.

Well the first day I tried the 7 mg patch I relapsed, I had about 6-7 cigarettes after 10 weeks abstinence. Time to reflect and reinvigorate my quit smoking tools and continue on.
