Day 25

Hi everyone, So I'm at day 25 with NO BUTTS! I've used tobacco on and off for nearly 30 years. It all started with chewing when I was a kid. Then graduated into smoking in college. The next thing you know you're pushing 50. I promised my kids I'd be smoke free for new years, so close enough. I've been using Chantix and fortunately have had no issues at all. Some people have had problems but the only thing I noticed is I can get buzzed off of two beers now so I have to be careful.

For what it's worth, I found that gum and tic tacs work GREAT! Most of my smoking was a habit rather than addiction. Like waking up, I have a tic tac with coffee rather than a smoke, same with after a meal. Driving places still gives me the urge, then I pop a piece of gum. All I know is this quite time is for real. "I don't want one, I don't need one" is what I tell myself when I get an urge. I think in the next couple weeks I'm going to try to tapper off of Chantix hoping the urges don't come back. If anyone has experience with that process, I love to hear it.

Congratulations Raydog, You have the right mindset to keep off the cigarettes, just watch you don't get too complacent. I was on champix, and could only tolerate one per day (in the morning) due to frightening dreams. This was enough for me. You might consider dropping the dose instead of stopping completely.

I felt the urges stronger at three months for some reason, not at the beginning of the programme. You will still need to have your Mantras in place after you discontinue the Champix. Eventually mine became NOPE (not one puff ever) I would discuss with your GP about your intentions regarding scripts.

No Butts. Love it.

I was on Champix and cutting down for weeks before the Quit. I am terrible at taking tabs. I reckon the job of the tabs is to stop the dopamine hit when you have a cigarette. If you are not smoking, they don't have a role to play. I was taking just one a day for about 3 weeks after my last smoke. If the script had've run out sooner, I would have stopped sooner. I detest prescription medications. Surely I have proven I have an addictive gene. Don't need to get hooked on any of that stuff.

as Lando says then

champix takes the enjoyment out of smoking. all nicotine receptors are shut down iafter 3 weeks. If they are not receiving.....they die off...right now they are sitting idle. Just one puff fires them back up. So remember N>O>P>E>. Tic tacsAND REGULAR GUM ARE JUST AS EFFECTIVE PLACEBOS AT THIS STAGE. Please read Allaen Carrs book i have a link to read absolutely free! It will help ensure you have the right mindset going forward. Stay free!
