Welcome gtitz I think the body does go into a bit of shock and there are side affects from that. 2 hrs sleep a night however is a massive issue. I would consult a Dr for advice, as maybe you need something mild for a short duration to assist break this pattern or they may have some ideas to break it. Your poor body would be struggling on prolonged lack of sleep. Aside from that you are doing amazing so stay strong and keep going. No turning back😊

i have been to the doctors and she suggested NRT replacement. i was 12 days cold turkey at that stage. i did get some nicotine chewy and yes it actually helped but after 3 days i knew i would just become dependent on them so i stopped. the doctor also prescribed slow release melatonin and that has not helped at all. im not one for medication so iv been trying everything herval and natural. im really not coping and i jist hope it all blows over soon.

Hey gfitz I agree too that NRT is not the way to go if you are going good cold turkey, NRT is an aid only if needed, and they do still feed the body nicotine whilst one breaks the habit part of the addiction. Yes they can 've addictive also. I respect your choice of natural and herbal options. Have you tried guided relaxation meditation to listen too when you wake up and can't get back to sleep. They are free and available on the internet. Also have you tried or thought of doing yoga at night to get your body really relaxed before sleep. Also once insomnia starts happening it can be difficult to break because the body is falling into that pattern. Persevere as I'm confident it will pass, broken sleep and insomnia is a side affect from quitting. You are doing amazing well. In past quit attempts I have suffered insomnia, not as extreme as yours, but gentle yoga at night and guided relaxation meditations worked for me. Good luck 🤞🤞 it passes really soon

I SLEPT LIKR AA BABY WHEN I FIRST QUIT BUT IAALSO RETIRED AND KEPT STRANGE HOURRS AS I COULD SLEEP WHEN I WANTEED TO. THOSE NIGHTS OF INSOMNIA WERRE HELPED BY BREATHINGG EXERCCISSE ANDV I READ THAT THE MELAATONINE TAKES TWO WEEKS TOO BE EFFECTIVE.UNTIL THEN TRY TO KEEP A NORMAL ROUTINE AND REDUCCE CAFFEINE. GREAT JOB. YOU ARE DOING AWESOME!!

Hi gfitz Congratulations for your 23 days, Its early days yet, but that's not much help for you at the moment. It will pass, I too suffered from insomnia, not from stopping smoking, but from a very sudden traumatic experience. I too went to the doctors, who put me on some awful medication which made me feel so drugged I couldn't operate during the day. This was decades ago, but I threw them out.

Just a thought that it might be anxiety, now that a pattern as been set - I took Stress relief from the Supermarket, and took these around 30 mins before bed, or earlier in the evening. I am back to normal now. If it doesn't stop then go back to your GP, but smoking will not rectify the situation. Happiness has suggested Deep Breathing and reducing coffee - you could combine this with Relaxation exercises. You can do this!

Herbal teas definitely help. No caffeine chocolate tea or coca cola soft drinks after lunch. Switch to green tea. I like a turmeric ginger cinnamon blend made by Dilmah. Get

it in Supermarket.

Start getting INTO different teas.

Buy yourself a funky teapot and use leaves instead of bags. There are lots of Tea shops now in big shopping centers. Try something new. 'YOU'RE a new nice version of yourself now.🐟

congratulations on your efforts so far. Sleeplessness is a withdrawal effect from going without nicotine. It can help to have nicotine replacement therapy and/or go see your doctor for support as they may be able to give you something temporarily to help you sleep. You should also avoid any cafeine as it becomes stronger when you first quit smoking and will keep you awake and or jittery. Best of luck for your smoke free journey

schedule 21 Jan 2020

I also used cammomile tea which helped a lot

schedule 24 Jan 2020

Exercise heaps, swimming and walking would be good
