Campix

Hello all,
So I quit smoking almost two years ago and fell right back into it. It was rather nefarious how that happened.. I was a happy non smoker and just got bold - forgetting Not One Puff Ever.. I quit the first time using Champix for 18 days - but then stopped the meds as I was experiencing strong side effects and continued on just fine. I am now trying to repeat my last successful quit - I forgot just how harsh the medication is (I cant concentrate at all and feel exhausted when Im not nauseaous) - I havent smoked for 4 days and Ive been on Champix for 18... I think Im going to go willpower from here...

May I ask if you have used a forum before. Most quit aids also recommend counselling with their products for greater results. Even though i had a very easy quit because i was in the right mindset, I would not dare to tempt fate and make the mistake of thinking i could take just one puff. That is one of the first things i learned on a quit forum and i will take heed. Sorry, was not meant to chastise you there, just making a point for the newbies. You did stay quit for two years so you have adjusted to life without cigarettes.(hoping you didn't wait too long to get back on track) In theory, the most difficult part of this journey should be much easier for you this time around and if you reaffirm your commitment and understanding of nicotine this time round, you should ditch the nicotine with relative ease. Read and learn about the mindset, adopt it and stay free this time. Stay in touch with a forum such as this even in months and years to come will also help keep you on track.

Sorry, i misread, you quit and have smoked again the past two years, quite a long time....how long did you quit for?

I smoked for 30 years before quitting for two! I had relapsed for about two months before trying to get back on the wagon with Champix..

Hi! It seems you are back on track the cube. What made you st s st again? I thought that 2 years and you would be definitely an Xsmoker... Does it ever go?

Well good for you for trying again. I am sure you will succeed , but please do what i mentioned to ensure that you stay quit. As to Pisces concerns on how long cravings can stay with you, the answer is forever, as we are addicts. As time goes by so does the intensity and frequency diminish. ...and life as a non=smoker becomes normal to us. Just as certain sounds, and especially smells provoke memories, so shall the smell of cigarettes or actions that remind you of your past. This does not have to be alarming. just as long as you let the thought go. If you continue to reminiscence and give it the power to get you to enter into a debate, then you need to quickly look at the reason why you quit. Ikeep them on your phone) Always remember NOPE and to check in with the forum on a regular basis. Remain vigilant and stay free.
Understanding the Mindset, the understanding of how nicotine affected us and how we can control the urges with rational thinking since learning the actual truths goes a long way in keeping you a happy non-smoker.

It's an awful word addict. I'm ashamed that I am one. I am trying to understand the triggers. They are memories and reminders and thoughts. I am doing something different today. Going for a swim.

I smoked for three years and then quit for two. Then I started playing music professionally in bars. Had a stressful period, and I was always around people who smoked so I would just have one or two when I was out playing. Now, it’s been a pack a day for a year and a half since

Willpower is just one method of quitting but it is also torturing yourself. May I recommend you read Allen Carr's quit book. If you want I can give you an audio book you can listen to your phone. It did wonders for me. PM me your email address Ill share it with you.
