schedule 2 Dec 2019

Hi Everyone,I’m on day 34. I have been using the nicotine gum till yesterday. It starting to make me edgy/nauseas. As of day 27 I feel tired and don’t really want to do much. I walk/run 1/2 hr a day. I’ve lost 12lbs. But I still have some anxiety, a lot of worrying and I get mad for the smallest thing. Is this normal ? I do really feel better then at the beginning. But I feel my brain is a fog .Any advance would be greatly appreciated.

Have you been weening down on the gum? If you’ve stopped it totally now that tiredness might get worse in the next few days. But, if you don’t have any more gum and just push through I bet within a week or two you’ll feel more normal.

Although I still have gum, I'm trying to ween off it. It's starting to make me nauseous and nervous . Last time i used it was Saturday at 2pm. I always have it with me. I want to use it on a "need to use basis". I had never heard of smoking withdraws. I actually landed in the emergency rm 5 days after quitting as my blood pressure was really hi and i had extremely anxiety. So if i get too edgy I'll use it. Today I feel alot better. still in a fog but not as bad.

the tiredness makes sense, thank you ! Also not that anxious. does this go away? I thought about a quick smoke driving in to work as my work can be very stress for ** I work with cancer patients :(

Given your line of work, I should think that your quit would be giving you great satisfaction and comfort rather than stress at this time.

You are aware that once nicotine is stop being used, whether by smoking or inhaling or gum, ANY NICOTINE, will diminish by half every 2 hours, so that in about 72 hours you are basically over the nicotine addiction. Don't make the mistake of using any Nicotine after that point that will reignite your nicotine sensors. Any craving after that point are not nicotine withdrawal but psychological need to fill the void that not smoking leaves. That is why we need a plan to stay busy and to take up a healthy habit instead. Keeping positive will also help keep the urges at bay. Don't debate, just get on with your day.

Where's my manners? I forgot to say Hello and Welcome :)

Reading and learning about the mindset and about nicotine and you will also be beneficial to your quit. Many people have managed to quit with sheer willpower but without the understanding and acceptance it is hard to maintain the quit. Do yourself a huge favour and read as much as you can here and on line about nicotine and you. Participating on a forum also helps others as well as yourself, so please check in often.

Hello and welcome keep going. Firstly you are doing really well for getting to day 34, and for me it took a while to get over the anxiety, which just was my brain telling my stomach to crunch up, because it had no nicotine to feed on.

Yes I did feel quite tired but mostly during the first week rather than later. It is also that time of year when stress is at its fullest, so give yourself a break and just rest as much as you want and do your deep breathing even when you are not stressed, this helps your anxiety levels. You are on a new journey of discovery for yourself and this is a good thing but you need to take one day at a time when you are overwhelmed. As in any other part of your life, new skills of meditation and deep breathing combat and overcome any feelings of anxiety. This is a normal part of any change of lifestyle. Like your namesake just keep going.
