4th time of trying

I am a smoker trying to give up. I managed it THREE TIMES before. Yes I am a slow learner as I took it up for the 4th time 2 to 3 months ago while having a stressful time.

It's not as if I only quit for a couple of weeks or months. Each time I took it up again it was after a period of 3 or more years of not smoking. On each occasion I have managed to find an "Excuse" for having just one cigarette or cigar and each time I could not say "NO" to myself so went out and bought some.

Last time I gave up I was mentally committed when I went on to Champix. I had my last cigarette on day 4 of the medication.

This time I have just reached the end of week 4 of Champix and have not reduced my smoking at all!

I want to quit for both health and wealth reasons but have not developed the "I WILL" mentality that I had before.

When I see my GP tomorrow I will discuss alternate quit methods. I used nicotine patches the first two times and, as I have already said, Champix last time.

I'm inclined to think that having a "Buddy" also trying to quit might help with my motivation. I have not even committed to a quit date yet.

Anyone trying to quit interested in pairing up with me as my Buddy?

Hi Chas,

I'm 5 months smoke free now. I had a terrible time giving up. I didn't really want to, I just couldn't afford it (I'm a pensioner). I used champix and got to one month free, then all I wanted to do was smoke.

So I took up vaping. It's really cheap, less than a dollar a day and I'm still getting my nicotine, which I seem to need and the sensation of smoking without the carcinogens or smell. For me it's the perfect compromise. Beware though, when I first started vaping I kept on smoking, you have to be committed to not smoking. Think if it as NRT

If you want nicotine in your vape juice you can order it from OS, it's legal to import for personal use.

Good luck - you will be much happier when you stop smoking
