30 days quit

30 days in now and feeling good. I smoked from the age of 12 or 13 years old to 34. I would go through a pack of 25 cigarettes almost every day which was far too expensive for my budget so mostly only smoked rollies which were creeping up to the 70 dollar mark for 50 grams, filters and papers. 50 grams would last me about 4 days if i was lucky.
The first 2 weeks absolutely sucked...but over 4 weeks in and i laugh when i get a craving now. Thank goodness i have a patient support network because at times i got myself into some pretty ugly states. At one point after an argument with my boyfriend, i was so angry and wanting a smoke so much but so determined not to that my whole body started to shake. So bloody worth it now though. The money im able to splurge on myself and my daughter is wonderful. Ive pretty much always chosen smokes over luxuries in the past so this is a nice change. I have to add... ive tried quitting so many times ive lost count. Once for a year during pregnancy and another time i was successful for only a few weeks. Then there are all the times i didnt last 20 minutes. My best advice is to just keep trying. Learn from what didnt work and implement the changes the next time. For me i had 5o quit on a long weekend where i could just relax.
Now, i have to start eating healthier because my apetite is back in a big way. Baby steps. X

For the record ive used almost all types of nrt but was successful this time by going cold turkey.

Haha -can totally relate. Time to tackel those snacks I keep eating. Well done Larn, just keep reminding yourself how you Don't want to go through it again after the massive effort you have just gone through -then you won't even pick up another smoke. I also find it strange how going cold turkey is marked as not being the best way -yet it's the way that worked for me too. No point in dragging out the different habits and addictions by using something else as a substitute. Inner strength and willpower will continue working.

Yes eating healthy is a challenge. I feel guilty after stuffing my face but then I forgive myself and try to eat better the next day. Like you said, baby steps. All the best on staying quit.

Thanks guys. I just tried crossfit today because ive been putting on a kg a week! Aagh! Id rather tackle food addiction than going through nicotene withdrawals again though. Any day.
