Champix

Hi guys New here! I see most of you are ok on champix but myself I tried to take my own life in the 1st Of feb, they say if you have any mental health issues do not take this medication, my dr New my mental health wasn’t great. I was moody, bitchy, irratable, nauseous and just my head was screaming kill your self, well I tried that and ended up in hospital😔. On Tuesday I’m going to see my dr and tell him he shouldn’t of put me on that medication and please give me the patches!! If there is anyone out there that’s starting on the 6th of feb and wants a quit smoking buddy I’m all up for it!! I know it’s going to be hard but I really need to give up my own health and I have 4 beautiful children to live for and a husband that can be understanding some times. Witting is hard, I live near Caboolture Brisbane and I don’t have any friends which is sad, but that’s the way it goes, but eager for a quit buddy. So if you have mental health problems or are on any antidepressants do not take this medication, it nearly cost me my life!!!

Hi Charlie73....Wow, pleased that you are here to chat to us about your life event,
There is not many nice stories about Champix and you are correct, your Dr should not have given you the ok with these.
Pleased that you will seek the help again....i went cold turkey..but even going onto patches, and quitting, you are going to go through so many emotions, some mostly not so nice days till your body starts adjusting to the fact that you are not supplying its Nicotine fix, but try and be positive and focused on your new journey and think of the rewards, your kiddies will enjoy their new mummy not reeking of smoke, etc, but in the end quit for yourself, its easier than being told to quit....
I can only give you moral support but i am sure there maybe someone else that may go on the journey of quitting together, if not continue by yourself and use this forum as your diary..its a good place to let off steam or just general chatter....
We can listen to frustrations, emotions, we have been down your path,, but you have made a great start and thats being on this page....
Hop on this page as often as you need, just to have a ramble, blurt what you like, you are not alone on this journey, some of us have been quit longer than others but yet at times it just feels like we are newbies as well...
But you can do it...
I am in Mackay area, Queensland...

I agree with you I have been quit 275 days, This is a great site, I used patches for the whole 3 months, and this site, I think we are all here for the same reason, it doesn't matter whether you have been quit 3 months or 3 years, everyone has a story to tell, & the emotions are still the same, I was a very heavy smoker, and if I can do it, anyone can, For everyone, It just has to be the right time. Good Luck xx

Thank you for your such kind words, it’s needed at this time🌸I will be using the patches on Tuesday, so I hope I make it through the first 2 weeks they say that’s the worst time I just want to stop and for it all to be over!!

Hi Red-67
Could you tell me the difference between withdrawals and cravings?
And how did you give up the smokes?
Cheers Charlie73

Thank you all for your support, I’m off to the drs tomorrow for my patches, I’m going to right down household chores I can do daily and I know this may seem silly but I was thinking of printing out a picture of someone who has lung cancer or emphesyemia on my fridge to remind myself that this will happen if I don’t stop? I went and bought the book Allen carr’s stop smoking book so I can read that to, I’m having my last smoke at 19.36 brushing my teeth and trying to wake up feeling positive about my future being a non smoker, you will all probably get sick of me writing daily on here but as long as I can channel my feelings somewhere I think I may be able to cope a bit better! Wish me luck and il let you know how my first day goes
Cheers

Hello Charlie, welcome. Good that you have the book now, it was a big help for me because after 35 years of smoking I knew I had to stop, but did't know how. This book opened my eyes at what smoking really is; a terrible Addiction.
You will have withdrawall symptoms the first three weeks, but they pass fast, and with the correct state of mind, you will feel a winner very soon.
It is not that you can't smoke, you Decide Not to smoke.
