Day 3

Hi Guys, today is day 3 of being quit after 20 a day for the past 15 years! I woke up this morning & did feel like a smoke with coffee (which was my usual morning routine for the past year) before coffee started, it was a smoke & redbull every morning for the past 4 yrs. i am not a water drinker at all! sometimes i would go anywhere from a week to almost 3 with not a single sip of water! since I quit smoking I have not had a single coffee or energy drink and have forced myself to drink at least 500ML of water a day (not much but compared to what I'm use too) my diet generally consists of coffee, energy drinks & junk food! Surprisingly I only weigh 54kgs at 29 years old! I can only imagine what my insides look like! Today was abit hard for me as my partner was over & he is a smoker (lucky for me he only smokes about 5 a day & dosent flaunt it in my face) this morning when I first got up i really felt like a smoke, craving probably 8/10.. I think this was due to me hearing my partner boil the kettle so I knew he was about to light up.. a couple weeks ago I read a book called "Allen carrs easy way to quit smoking" (which I 100% RECOMMEND) although his method didn't help me to quit straight away like its supposed to, but it has helped alot because everytime I get a craving I think back to his book & the method that he teaches, which keeps me going and reminds me why I definetly DONT need a smoke :-) so I got out of bed & it was a scorching 42 degrees today in Sydney!!! So me, my partner decided to go to the pools. once we got to the pools and started swimming (I don't usually do any form of exercise in any way) but once I started swimming I did notice that my breathing was alot easier compared to when I use to swim, I wasn't feeling as tight in the chest & as puffed out as in the past) after about 30 mins of swimming I noticed that I could barely stop coughing! It was a dry cough though without mucus, but I imagine it's my lungs trying to heal from the many years of damage that I have done to them.. (in the weirdest way) all this coughing made me feel good! As one of the things I use to get frustrated about on my other failed attempts, was that I couldn't feel the benefits of quitting straight away so I always thought "what's the point"! (Yes, I understand that they don't happen overnight, it was just very frustrating lol) so while coughing, I was beginning to feel happy that something was finally happening & I was beginning to heal :-) since I quit I have also noticed some mild headaches & I get frustrated quit easily (nothing I can't handle, just little things annoying me more than usual) after the pools, I came home & decided to have a nap at about 2.30pm & didn't wake up till 8.30pm! I got up, had a shower & thought, i wouldn't mind a smoke & a coffee but kept telling myself I have come so far & don't want to ruin it. I keep reminding myself of the reasons I want to stay quit & am also using patches. (I know alot of ppl don't believe in patches) but I do feel they take the edge off cravings ALOT for me :-) although I must say "dam patches give u some weird as dreams lol!" Another thing I have noticed which started late on day 2 of being quit (abit embarrasing) but the amount of gas I have had, especially today, is UNBELIEVABLE!!! & I'm not even going to explain the smell that is associated with it :-/ I'm sure u get the idea!! I'm not 100% sure if this is a side effect of quitting (I'm hoping it is otherwise I'm abit worried it may be an underlying health issue as I am also quite bloated to the point where I look about 4 months pregnant!) So in conclusion, days 1, 2 & 3 haven't actually been too bad for me :-) i believe the biggest issues i face the most is routine (certain moments in the day when i would usually light a smoke) cravings have been mild to medium & I still have a pretty positive outlook & headframe at the moment :-) I have heard between days 3-5 is usually when it hits the hardest, so I am keeping my fingers crossed & praying that is dosent get too bad for me & all the side effects stay relatively mild :-) "Positive Thinking"

Keep it up KK...I reckon the exercise option if it is available to you is a good one..and each time you swim or run or workout the results get better due to increased lung capacity and blood flow.I too am doing this when I get a severe craving.although these are few and far between now at day 8,thank goodness. No matter What I will not smoke again..and I wish you every success
