I just deleted my earlier version of this story because I have decided, since yesterday's lapse, that I need some extra help so have just been to the chemist to get some nicotine patches and my new quit day is tomorrow.

I'm nearly at 7 weeks. I still get cravings of course. When I do...I distract. Drink lots of water. Take the dog for a walk. Hit the treadmill. Anything but smoke. I just won't. I tell those cravings to bite me. I killed my 2 year quit 20 years ago by thinking a puff here or there wouldn't matter. That's not happening again. Think like a never smoker if you can. When they stress out...they never think of smoking. Good luck.

Jellycake I've been reading the easy way to stop smoking (Allen Carr) and finding it helpful i think it may be more use to you than nicotine patches NRT i reckon to be hazardous i used gum and began to smoke far more

Hello Jellycake - it's great to see you are having another go. Knowledge is power. There is an alan carr audio book if you have the facilities, and an alan carr for women audio book. People are also using a free odf by joel ? From stayquit - i like that site, too, especially smoking 101. Good luck, I hope you can make it this time (me too)

Hello JellycakeIts good to hear you haven't given up Giving up and getting some patches shows you just how serious you are to beat this Terrible addiction, Good on you and you will find the patches really do help I used them for the best part of 90 Days and I haven't had a cigarette since. They take a bit of getting used to at First but when you get up in the Morning and look for your patches instead of a smoke that in itself is a change Try not to drink for a while till at least you have gotten your head around whats happening with you and don't wear them to bed of a night they tend to give you bad dreams I found and you don't need that. Drink plenty of water and find something to do with your time thru the day and night I spent many sleepless nights improving my writing skills and venting my mind here and found some other Quit Smoking sites to visit. I know you have been thru a lot but it will keep getting better for yourself once you have begun just take it one day at a time and you will get there and be proud of yourself for what you have Achieved. I will check in on you from time to time to see how you are going I know you can do it. Ron
