Struggling
I am about 16 days smoke free. The first couple days were easy but now I find myself sick .. actually sick - I don't sleep I can't eat and I'm constantly on edge and shaky. My stress levels have shot through the roof! Has anyone else experienced this? It would be nice to know I'm not alone

Sounds like you're very anxious, Struggling. Can you use some relaxation techniques, like the "Stop smoking fast hypnosis" app?- it could really help at sleep time.
I have been listening to Alan Carr's ebook on audible, over and over again on the way to and from work, and to tell you the truth, I just don't want to smoke. In 10 days I have had two anxious moments when I have through about smoking, but when I imagined putting the filthy stick in my mouth lighting it and sucking the smoke down my throat and into my lungs, it put me off.
I haven't experienced what you are experiencing, but am only at day 10.
Hang in there, it can't last. Ater all, non smokers don't get affected like that.

Hi Struggling, you are certainly NOT alone, the last time I quit I was extremely anxious, depressed and demotivated. It was the worst after the 2 week mark. I couldn't bring myself to go to work some days, I felt alone and empty and lost. Hang in there, it does get better. After about the 4 week mark, my mental state improved and I lasted until the 5 month mark when yet again I had another stressful event that caused me to smoke again.
It was the 3rd time I used hypnotherapy (NLP) and each time I quit for approx 6 months before a major stressful event caused me to smoke again (1. divorce, 2. lost job).
Quitting cigarettes is one of the hardest things you'll ever do and as each month passes you will feel even better so keep at it.
This time round I made sure I was in a health mental state and my life was in order, i.e. good job, happy relationship, etc. I still have moments where I crave a cigarette but mentally I feel good. I use the Quickmist mouth spray when I'm having those cravings but everyone is different so I'm sure you'll find what works for you.

The first couple of weeks are the pits withdrawal is the worst, even if you use NRT but it does help you get thru the worst of it, and it won't be so much like torture because you're giving your body a small amount of what it craves for and gives you a bit of break, giving your mind time to get your head around it. I'm 35 days into it smoke free, I'm still on the patches and I use Quickmist when I get stressed to get me thru times when I'm feeling anxious and it's got me thru the worst of it, I haven't smoked at all and I feel fine today, I sleep a lot better now and don't feel sick all the time. It's a better way to get thru the first couple of months, I give myself 3 months to get started with it and after that, I will be strong enough to go it on my own it's working for me and might work for you too. Going cold Turkey hasn't worked for me at all in the past and I've had a few goes at this and had other Issues to deal with as well but for the first time in my life I feel like I'm on the right track now, I hope this helps you or at least gives you something to consider if it gets too much for you, either way, you have a lot of support right here. Heya,
I was the same as you. I couldn't sleep and if i did it was a hour here and a hour there. I vomited a few times and had constant headaches. i started exercising and that helped me a great deal. got rid of stress and made me feel better.
I am now 34 days smoke free and i feel good now.
