Hard Times

Posted in Quit experiences
schedule 3 Sep 2017

Id dont know what to say about quitting smoking. I had smoked for close to almost 20 years and as a 32 year old person thats a majority of my life with minor quitting bouts before of a year here or 6 months there well over 5 years ago. But this time actually quitting fully because I was determined to it feels different. I have times its hard to catch my breath. Hard times and arguments where all I want is a cigarette but know that its not worth it. But all I can wonder is if I took to long to make the final decision and stick to it and now there might be something wrong with me. I dont want to have a life long illness. My doctor suggested I might have anxiety and need to be on meds for that but instead I quit everything that cause anxiety. I dont know some days it seems like smoking was easier but then I wonder why? What did it help? I guess Im just having a down day.

Very well said Red. I guess I was having an off day this day. I am much better today. I realize that smoking isnt for me. I want a clean life. I dont need to waste my money. The damage that has been done to my body will eventually heal. Everything in this world is temporary. Just have to enjoy it while you still have the chance to.

schedule 9 Sep 2017

Hey Red Im from Tx and here the cigs are steady on the rise in price. Marlboro Lights cost me 7.34 a pack. My husband still smokes and he smokes Newports and is at 7.74 a pack. Imagine I used to spend 15 a day to support our habits. One day I sat down and wrote out how much it cost per day then week to month and then a year and could not fathom spending that much for killing myself when it could very well go to something better. I tried the generic cigs but they hurt my head. I also tried vaping but to no avail. I couldnt get past the thought of putting water in my lungs. Also it made me have a heavy deep cough.

But I fully agree the money I save plus not waking up hacking up a lung is a great feeling. I just wish I could get past the anxiety breathing part.
