Day two off the smokes

schedule 18 Sep 2017

Hey Everyone,

I'm day two off the smokes, I have been on Champix and just decided to put them down. I have had a headache all day, and a crappy nights sleep last night, other then that I think I'm doing okay. I work in admin and I'm finding it difficult to concerntrate, I'm slightly irritable but unsure if this is due to, the headache, the lack of sleep or being off them smokes, or all of the above.

I was a smoker for 10 years, I had quit twice in that time for only a few months (3rd time lucky..) I quit because I was spending $83 a week on smokes, then they had a massive price jump to $108 a week, a jump of $25 I thought that was just ridiculous..

I have been trying to stay positive.. but I do doubt myself sometimes.. because I really don't want to fail, my fiancé is still smoking which is a bit hard for me. I carried my pouch all day with me yesterday just knowing it was there and I didn't want one made me feel awesome..

I don't really know where I'm going with this post.. I suppose has anyone had any other reactions when quitting? And any helpful tips about staying off the smokes? I have been reading a lot and have brought myself some new books to keep me going but I get bored with that quickly..

Thanks heaps Robn,

I haven't had any cravings yet as such, after tea last I thought I could go a smoke but had a lollypop instead and picked up my book, I will use this site regularly, I've read through some stories and the support people receive is amazing!

Cheers

Hi butters

I quit on 10 September 2017 and today is Day 10. I never thought that I could do it and the first few days were tough but when I had a craving, I kept busy, took some long slow deep breaths and squeezed my stressball 50 times. A friend of mine bought me a jar of lollypops and they are sitting on my kitchen counter, but I haven't had to use them (yet). Yesterday afternoon after work, when I would usually sit on my deck and begin my smoking, my partner and I jumped on our pushbikes and went for a 20 minute ride. Not a long ride, but long enough to turn my brain around. On my quit day, I bought myself a pushbike from Kmart. It was on sale for $70. Less than 2 packets of cigarettes. I know that this bike is going to be a much better friend to me than the cigarettes.

I wish you all the best and I am only a few days ahead of you so I am still in the early days of this, but already I am feeling so positive and happy with the decision I made. I have had great encouragement on this site (thanks Robn!).

I hope you keep posting as I would love to see how you are going.

Hi Indigo, yes I think I need to find myself a physical hobby, my partner is still smoking till our pouch runs out then he will quit, so ive been sitting outside with him while he smokes I get fresh air, and I feel quite good within myself knowing I can sit there and not have one while he does, its been difficult at times as well but I am proud I'm now on day 3 and I am positive I can do this, I do doubt myself sometimes but I think that's my brain trying to play tricks on me. I have noticed ive been sleeping pretty crappy though which has sucked as I love my sleep! I work in admin and also have noticed I've been getting a bit irritable and snappy and I feel awful about it. I think they understand though as they know I'm trying to quit. I've been reading a bit I love reading about true crime & foster children, so I treated myself and spent $80 on booktopia which should arrive today. but I get bored with reading as well I think I need to start taking the dog for a walk after work or something..

I will defiantly keep posting I've been keeping notes to put in my next post :)

Just wanted to let you know i think you should stick with the champix, try to get through the first few days/week of side effects as they helped him a lot. He stopped in less than a week on champix and has stayed stopped. He was a heavy smoker.
