Breathing difficulty

schedule 28 Jul 2017

I have quit smoking for 10 days now. This is the first time I've ever quit because I really wanted to. I don't have a desire to smoke. I've passed the part of craving a cig after old habits or waking up. I have been having anxiety issues in the past few months which is why I decided to quit. I felt like I was getting better but I've been feeling like I'm not getting a full breath while breathing lately. I had bronchitis a month ago and wonder if it's flaring up again. I'm coughing up phlegm every now and then but generally if I cough it's dry. Am I the only one with this issue?

Hi Rise n Grind, well done on 10 days, you wanting to quit is a major positive start, makes it much easier to stop rather than giving up when you don't want to.....

With your breathing issues, would be better consulting your GP as it could be another issue, but will say that by no smoking has given your lungs a rest and this Phlegm is probably gunk from your smoking days.....

Stay focused and positive on your goal.

Thanks! I went to see my doc today and he said that my lungs sound fine. My vitals are normal. He said generally the cillia in your lungs come back to life and move the gunk out. He gave me 3 prescriptions one cough syrup, one antibiotic and one steroid. The steroid to open my lungs the antibiotic in case I get worse. So heres hoping that in the next few days all this will subside. I refuse to go back to smoking. And this definetly motivates me to stay on my path.

well done keep going and logic would say a smoke isn't going to make what's going on better so all that's just the addiction having a go.

hang in there they tell me it gets better so only one way to find out.
