Hi everyone

I am quitting on Thursday 25th. I did it before for 9 months and more recently for 8 days. I buckled and here I am again. I can't do drug support as I have allergies, so it's got to be cold turkey for me.

I suppose I am am looking for smoke free mates as I feel quite alone and know what a struggle this can be. Apart from pulling the duvet up (I'm off work this week) any coping strategies at work would be great. Every day i promise myself tomorrow is the day but I wake up and think 'stuff it' and buckle. I constantly beat mysel up. I am so desperate to stop and have lots of reasons to succeed.

Here we go again! Thursday is my day. I can do this. Yes?

Many thanks Red-67 for taking the time to comment. The problem I have at the moment is I set a date, feel strong then wake up in the morning and I bottle out. I've recently done this so many times. I am determined to get through Thursday though and take it a day at a time.

I really want to do it.

Thanks again

Suki

Hi Sukisue,

If you can quit for 9 months you can definitely quit for good.

You are strong enough and more importantly you are serious enough about quitting.

I agree with Red that you must start looking at cigarettes differently.

Every time i want a smoke i imagine the empty feeling after every finished cigarette, also the damage on my body. That makes me conscious about my smoking and when we are conscious about the bad effect of smoking is way harder for us to slip and light one.

I believe that after this 9 month period of not smoking you are closer than ever to quit for GOOD.

Keep up the good work!

You ROCK for quitting.....and you should tell yourself that each and every minute you feel like smoking. You are really worth it. I am 44 days in....cold turkey....after 20+ years of smoking. Tune in here and get an app that tracks your progress. You can do it!

Hey SukiSue,

Just wanted to wish you the best of luck for your quit date. I've heard so many use different tools or sayings such as No Not One Puff Ever N.O.P.E or One Puff equals a packet etc. Or eating fruit and drinking lots of water or just allowing yourself to have a damn good cry. It's not an easy thing to do but it does get better with time. Perhaps try to distract yourself with things you know you enjoy.

You know yourself better than anyone else but please do know that support is at hand. Be kind to yourself and I wish you the best of luck.

Hey guys! Better late than never. I managed 3 months and buckled again. I'm on day 56 now and am not going to be a loser and put myself through this again. I've had enough. Thanks to everyone who commented on this post, I now find I can look back at my mistakes, which has made me stronger. I have FINALLY put the last 40 years of smoking behind me and I have finally saw the light. I want to live, run, walk, breathe and share my life with my family. I am truly richer in every aspect of my life. Funnily enough, it's never been hard to stop smoking, my issue is staying stopped! If you see this, let me know how your doing. Thank you! Love and hugs X
