Fluid retention

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced fluid retention? So that I don't put weight on I reduced my calorie intake and try to get in 15,000 steps a day despite battling a back injury. I'm 4 weeks smoke free, on patches and not eating more. This week I gained 2kgs!! I'm a slim build but I my stomach is so bloated, rings are tight where they see to be loose. I know it's got to be water weigh but that's a huge increase for me.
Is it part of giving up smoking or?

I was talking to my endocrinologist the week I stopped and he mentioned how bloody sneaky our bodies can be when they are not getting the thing they think they need. (His words, not mine) He mentioned that I should add a couple of sticks of celery to my daily intake. Apparently the extra fibre is beneficial as well as the celery being a natural diuretic. It's worth a shot. Like Red I noticed I am less regular, but more 'regular' so to speak :)

Hi Red and Zandyness,
Yes it sure is weird how our bodies change.
I'm now the reverse, if anything I am actually
having heaps of problems trying to go.
I'm on pain mess that cause that but it's
worse since stopping. The fibre in my
diet is quite high and I drink 3 litres
of water every day. The celery however
sounds like a really good idea for the
fluid retention. I'll eat a bunch daily if I
have to lol

Hi kim26
I know this may be a long shot because your post was back in 2017 but i am 93 days smoke free but I’ve been struggling with this fluid retention for about 80ish days now and I have tried everything. My question is what worked for you? And how long did the retention last?
