Weight dropping

When I first quit I ate hundreds of toffee eclairs and drank hundreds of cups of really strong coffee. I put on a stone and a half in weight but was determined to stay quit of smoking. I was irritable , moody , sad , depressed , and really couldn't see an end to the misery. Where I was consuming so much sweet stuff I got gum desease and lost two teeth.
I got there in the end though. The withdrawals slowly passed and cravings turned to thoughts. Now 400 days away from Nick O'Teen. I rarely think of cigarettes. I really appreciate all the help here and to those regular posters who helped. A BIG THANK YOU. I didn't get my teeth back but I am losing weight. Hate chocolate eclairs now and don't really like coffee.

Hey Dobbin, nice to hear from you again. I too have had a little gum problem since my 92 days quit. I think however the 50yrs i smoked is what originally created the gum problem. Been to dentist twice and been told may need couple of implants to solve problem. Anyway i worry about this later. I also am a sweet fan and one thing i will not give up is the odd cake now and again. Anyway nice to know you going ok and keep posting . Cheers.

Hi Wendy, if you can find the time i suggest a half hour brisk walk or to your preference every second day preferably with a final 250 metre slight incline. It really does help me.I feel now my cravings for sweets have increased and need to cut back a little on sugar. No point getting one part right and wrecking the other, if you know what i mean. All about moderation........good luck Wendy and keep posting. Cheers.

Hi Dobbin. Do you think quitters might branch out on this site and give some weight control tips. Since quitting 500 days ago, I have truly "blossomed"... Am getting some control but still work to do. We probably put on the kilos after we lost our "best friend"... Just as well we continue to see through this pathetic so called friend. There comes a time when it is good to ditch toxic friends... But why do we have to "wallow" and put on weight...

Hi Lia, i appreciate the fact that you are proud of your achievement (500days) but there are still many people on this site including myself who have a long road ahead. Any tips on quitting smoking and/or controlling weight gain should be given by anyone. This is the reason we are all here, to help each other. I do not consider cigarettes as a lost long friend as one may find it hard to forget a long lost friend in reality. Quitters on this site should help each other in any shape or form if it assists in giving some comfort. Cheers.

Funny how we all deal with it in slightly different ways. I considered it not a lost friend but my annoying brother who enjoyed putting people down and making them generally miserable to make him feel better. In my head, I put his face onto a 6' cigarette and punched him in the face. Though I don't condone violence in any form, I think it's ok if it's just in your head. Right? If not, I'm in deep trouble. Most people put on weight at the beginning because cigarettes increase your metabolism but this WILL settle down so please don't anyone get too hung about this. Your metabolism can be tricked and dealt with later by regulating your eating (healthy, little and often) drinking green tea and exercise. Honestly, the stopping smoking is the most important thing. Well done everyone, you're all amazing.
