I'm giving it another go at quitting
I have just joined this site in the hope that the stories of other people trying to quit will give me strength and encouragement while I attempt to quit again this awful habit/addiction.
I started smoking at a very early age. By 16 i was a smoker. Yikes! But I quit for 8years when I fell pregnant at 28. It was easy to do as my body rejected cigarettes with the hormonal changes you go through with pregnancy. But after my son turned 6 I gradually little by little started smoking again.
After a traumatic event I started chain smoking for a couple years but in the last 4 years I have cut down considerably and smoke only every second weekend when my son is away at his dad's place.
Last year I quit from April to November, but a promotion at work meant a lot of work and stress and I started again. These days when I smoke (every other week) I really feel the effects of it on mundo health. After a couple of ciggies mu throat starts hurting and my chest and throat throbs. I get sick with colds easily when I smoke.
Recently I quit for 6 weeks and my anxiety and depression got pretty bad that one day I just caved in and bought a pack.
I really need to quit because it seriously makes me feel sick. Hopefully I will find here the support I need to get me though those moments where I feel so vulnerable. It's hard but I know I can do it, I have to do it... I'm excited to share my progress as the days, weeks go by. Stay tuned. ☺️

Hi Gaby,
Congratulations on deciding to quit we are here for you when the craving hits just log on and read or post what you are feeling to get you through it. The journey will not be easy but so worth it. Goodluck you can do this :)

Gaby, you are still young and very attractive from your photo. Give them away once and for all......you, as the rest of us do not need to inhale smoke. I was 16 when i started but smoked much longer than you. The effect they have on your health are horrendous. So, please do it for your son and try not to even think about the smokes. It does get better. I am on 105 days after 52yrs smoking. Good Luck.
Wendy,Jano and Johnnie,
Thanks so much for leaving a message on my post. It actually really helps to hear the encouragement from others going through the battle of quitting smoking.
I am feeling positive and strong today. I'm glad im back at work tomorrow where hardly anyone there smokes. A few of my closest friends are smokers and I avoid them at all cost. So It will get a bit lonely as I am planning to stay away from smokers for the next cpl months. All good, i have a few friends who are non smokers and also now I have this site to come for support so if I'm in need, i will sure will be coming here to comment, post etc.
I think I'll have to find a support buddy to call, it would be a good idea to be able to chat to someone on the spot if things get really hard.
Well, I hope you are all having a good end to the week and that it hasn't been too hard for you.
Thanks again for the lovely words :)

Hi again Gaby, i can understand your ambitions , however you cannot treat your smoker friends as outcasts. Everyone has a life to live as he/she chooses to. You should avoid passive smoking ...yes......but do as i do. Some of my friends still smoke and when i am with them at a club especially i wait inside while they return from smoking area. However i have been in smoking area to test myself more than once and what i find with my time quit is that the stench is annoying but i do not get desires...honestly. The hardest i find is the morning coffee habit and the habit after the evening meal. Look just be strong and you will achieve what you want. Bye for now.
