2 days smoke free - struggling badly

Have been on Zyban tablets for 2 weeks and have been smoke free for 2 days however struggling really badly pacing and crying lots. Coping ok with cravings but finding habit very hard ie. After meal, with coffee etc. my husband and children are still smoking so finding it hard to deal with when they light up, yes I do walk away try to keep busy etc but still finding it really hard. How do others cope in similar circumstances or any suggestions

1st 2 days I was soooo sick I couldn't get out of bed...
so no its not easy I don't think its meant to be but if we do not pick up that 1st smoke we cant set of the craving.
right now sugar is your friend it hits the same spot in the brain as nicotine my book do what ever it takes to not have a smoke.
you have come 2 days you can do another day and then come back here and do another day but just get through today and worry about tomorrow when its today.
you can do it !!

Chezzel, it's not easy but it will be so worth it, two days is brilliant - that in itself is a fantastic amount of time. The first few days aren't great but it will get easier. If you're worried about the sugar, try sugar free gum. Walking away from your family when the cravings hit is a great idea, you see, you've already got the ideas there. You'll probably hate me for this but I started running, invested in a FitBit and transferred my addiction to that. Also meditation helped. Main help for me was thinking of my brother dressed up in a cigarette suit and every time I get a craving I punch him in the face. You're very welcome to use him too (pointy features, 50 years old, very superior and thinks he's always right), he is very annoying. We are all different and have our own techniques, stay positive, keep posting on here and read other people's testimonies. They all help.
Take it in small steps, slowly slowly catchy monkey, an hour, a few hours, a day then before you know it you will be smoke free for weeks.
When you look back months down the line and feel proud of how far you've come.

Well done on 2 days. Its going to get easier the longer you stay off the nicotine. Keep coming back and telling us each day you've passed.

Pat yourself on your back for making it through 2 days first.
Yes the cravings will take some time but you can do a few things like;
1. Drink raw ginger tea.
2. Having a tooth pick in your mouth.
3. Light exercise like short walks, push ups etc.

Hi all, wow thank you for your comments just knowing you are there makes me more positive, it's early morning here day 3 sitting having a nice cup of tea - Earl Gray, not coffee, constantly trying to change what I have always done, tea for coffee etc. I am not much for running but live in a really lovely area so will force myself to go for daily strolls more than just once a day. I was feeling so desperate yesterday, I reached out to a person to get an E Cig, not able to get yesterday, what are your thoughts? Should I go down that track or keep going without it. Took up knitting yesterday, not actually making anything just knitting it's getting quite long. Thank you for being there for me it really means so much. Also White Willow I might take you up on your brother offer, it made me smile can just see me doing that - might need a punchbag hadn't thought of that.

nicotine is nicotine.. the ecig is just the addiction wanting an out... hang in there keep writing and do what ever you need to do to fulfil your goal today and today that is not to ingest nicotine !
well done and you are doing it !!

Hey Chezzel, well done to you for quitting even though your Husband and Daughter smoke. I understand feeling it is more habit than addiction/want. I am in the same boat. I found myself thinking "Oh I should have a smoke before I pick up hubby" or "it's 10:30 smoko time" but I am now onto day 16 as smoke free and they do get less and less each day. I am on Champix myself and even though the cravings aren't there, it is mind over matter 100%. I have put a list in my phone of the reasons I quit smoking and why I don't ever want to be a smoker again. I find looking at that and adding to it as well as putting comments on here really helps. Keep it up and stay strong! Write on here as much as you need or if you need a private place to write, I recommend www.penzu.com. I look forward to seeing updates from you. :o)

Thanks Tanzee and IC yep the need or panic for e cig yesterday has passed, so glad I couldn't get one yesterday.i am going to try to do more writing, walking, posting and pacing and of course chewing, I really appreciate you guys and so proud of you
