Keep going

Hi. 284 days nicotine free and had a rough day. Have not had cravings for months but they returned two or three times today. Always after eating and feeling craving pangs. I find this help page is a real help because I can be honest and know I am understood. I have had so may bonuses since quitting including saving over $2500. The demon does lurk round the corner but I can see this one through. I think the trigger is that my wife has had major surgery and I need to be with her 24/7. Thanks to this fellowship I can share how I feel. I will not be giving in to the cravings after such a long time but still surprised that it came back with such venom. Although the truth is that if I analyse it the cravings were mild compared to the first 20 days. Going to bed to sleep it of ( uk time )

Hi Dobbin, sorry to hear your wife is unwell, sending good thoughts and hugs to you both.
Well done for not giving in, it would have been such a shame after all your hard work to stop. Life throws lots of crap at us and the nicodemon is right there in the wings waiting to tell us he told us so. Well, he didn't so (thumbs in ears and waggle those fingers) ner-ner-ner-ner-ner. Stay strong for yourself and your wife and I hope everything is ok for you both. Here for you, whenever you need to vent.

Thanks Whitewillow. It's morning here in the UK and a different day thank God. Just been thinking how grateful I am being off the Nicotine and realise it's only a drag away. Great having support here and appreciate your comments.

Hi Dobbin, hoping things are better for you and your wife. Congratulations on your achievements, looks like this addiction will always be just under the surface, we all need to stay vigilant

Hi Dobbin, you have done so well. Sorry to hear there has been an added stress to challenge you. I think maybe we as smokers have become so used to lighting up every time we can blame it on stress. How on earth can you be a career 24/7 if you must run outside every time the craving rears its ugly head. Tell that craving where to go and keep your mind on what is important. Everyone here wants you to succeed. If you need support for what stresses you, try reaching out to your icanquit community.

Thanks folks. Feeling a lot better today and no cravings. Thanks for advice From everyone and onwards and upwards. Great fellowship this and identification keeps one from feeling alone with it. Dobbin

HI dobbin, sorry to hear about your wife, hope all goes well for her surgery and recovery. 284 days is awesome, well done. You should be very proud, keep up the good fight.

Hi Dobbin, hope all going ok with the wife.
I am a week behind you at 277 days or 38 weeks or a week off 9 months., and a nice plump growing nest egg $4440.00 by not buying smokes but still putting the $$$$ away each week.
Yes I still get some strong but brief pangs but they are only brief, so the Nicotine Devil still sit on my shoulders just waiting for the moment to pounce.
I was a Nicotine Addict.
Once smokes ruled my everyday living or rather the craving for nicotine did but now I would like to think I am in control but still vigilant over the Nicotine Demon,
Everyday is a new day filled with positives and determinations.
