Just did hypnotherapy

So I went to see the hypnotherapist yesterday evening and it was great. Just to recap, I was in day 8 yesterday of cold turkey so had gone through the worst of the withdrawals earlier in the week. The hypnotherapy was about helping me be less obsessed mentally with smoking and counting every minute of every day (ie: I wanted help just looking up at the horizon and moving on). The hypnotherapist was accredited (very important) and interviewed my in-depth for around 40 minutes to work out my triggers, behaviour, smoking history etc. She then used this in a tailor-made hypnosis session. I was aware of everything around me, but went in very deep and took a while to come out at the end! Came out feeling strong and on top of the world after it and very calm and assured about quitting. Hardly thought about smoking today (except when on this site) and not scared of reverting back to old habits. All in all, it was a great addition to my quit plan. Obviously, it is too early to offer results - but I will keep you updated if interested on my thoughts in coming weeks as I continue without smokes.

Well done jack do you have to go back for another session? I had two sessions.

schedule 3 Mar 2016

Hi Sconie, I was in a bit of a different situation to most people who do the stop smoking course, as I had already quit cold turkey for 7 days by the time I did it. For me it was less about quitting smoking and more about staying focussed on the big picture/ moving on from being a smoker. I told the hypnotherapist this and she booked me in for just one session at half price ($195) plus two mp3s and an ebook to use at home.

What is interesting about the outcome so far is that I still get short pangs for something first thing in the morning because physically, my nicotine receptors are still awake and firing for the next few weeks.

However, those pangs aren't really for a smoke, I don't really think about actual smoking since I did the session. It seems to have helped me close a door on it, mentally and emotionally.
