The problems with relapse

For me i have had many at least 8 attempts at quitting I'm now 5 days smoke free the main reason i quit this time was i was getting infection in my mouth. From around june this year till october i was completly smoke free but relapsed again and started. For me it seems temptations as well as the addiction drives it 24 hours a day also ive noticed that quitting is actually more expensive than buying tabacco and to be sucsessful i have to use multi NRT's at the moment im on patches gum strips and occassionaly the lozenges one good thing though is the lozenges are very effective for a strong nicotine craving The day i quit this time 11 december i wet my cigarettes i'm hoping though to get in touch with the quitline to discuss stratergies. Also one thing thats important to point out is its best to avoid heavy drinking of alcohol if you are trying to quit this seems to make it even harder to quit for good and the advertisments on tv also were a good deterence to try again to finally kick the habbit i'm also next year going to a Quit smoking group wish me luck guys

Why do I think you are relying heavily on external sources to help you to quit? Apart from those choosing to take Champix or similar, the most successful are in control of their destiny. Ultimately they go cold turkey. They rely on their own determination to beat the addiction. On this site they get the best emotional support and encouragement from fellow quitters. None of us find it to be an easy path. We draw strength from each other and what we have learnt along the way. And we thought we knew it all... Not really...
