schedule 21 Jul 2015

Finally get to tick the THREE WEEK box when I log in. How good is that. Last couple of days have been hard and Im not sure why. Felling happy that I have got to 3 weeks but emotionally feeling blerrr. Lacking motivation. Very open to hints or advice. Well done everyone x

schedule 21 Jul 2015

Woohoo, 3 weeks is excellent.

I understand keeping yourself up emotionally it can be quite hard at times. It's like a weird grieving process.

I have had a few quit attempts. This is approximately my 6th real attempt and I'm on day 70 something.

I say that as I have had 2 x slip ups but continued on anyway, I won't beat myself up for a minor slip up and discount all the days I had previously not had one. Had to tell you that or I wouldn't feel like I was being honest.

Anyway as far as emotions go that is the hardest part as you know. Week 3 was the hardest week for me, but once you get through it, you will feel so much stronger and happier you stuck with it.

It has taken me this long to sort of come back to the land of the living. As I am now planning to go horseriding/lessons also. Now I can afford it! Plus it's something I love to do and never had the motivation until I gave up those stinky life stalling ciggies!

All the best, just push through it and you will be so proud of yourself.

You should be already!

Good luck :)

Are you on any patches or meds to help you? I'm on Champix and honestly in 3 weeks myself I have had no withdrawls whatsoever and feeling fantastic. I really do not feel like a smoke. I've been smoking for 20+ years.

It's very hard for me to give advice as I'm having nothing but positive results being on the tablets. If you aren't on these give them a go.

Hi Sharon and Rimene, Im using the 25mg patches and although they are the highest strength they still don't make up for a packet a day. I rang the quit line and as you say Sharon Im in grieving and I need to find a new hobby. You are lucky you have found horse riding, so I need to ponder something new as well. Time to work out what I would like my new life without smoking to look like with new interests. As sooo many say its like breaking up in a relationship. Quitting is quite a complicated process. Thankyou both for taking the time to help. Well done on both efforts.xx

Hi Nanette. Thanks for the encouragement. 52 days and counting. $815 saved... I enjoy your comments. Yes, this site keeps us accountable and we get to share the journey. There will often be a moment when Margaret Thatcher very casually suggests giving oneself a little reward. We can tell her where to go as we know that ONE will become one packet... And so on and so on... What is interesting also is how these cravings affect different people in different ways. There's no one size fits all when it comes to finding a way to cease the habit and dependence. I thought about using Champix initially as a friend was on this treatment, but got mad at myself for thinking I would replace one drug with another. I have had experience with patches and will tell my funny story another time... Wasn't funny at the time. It nearly killed me...

Hey Nanette, lovely to see your 3 week post, well done! It seems that many people on this site say that week three was the hardest, I certainly found it was, and you've beaten it. Yay!!! I don't know if this may be of interest to you, someone on here recommended a mindfulness app as being very helpful in their quit. I'd already stopped smoking, but have found the app a huge help in other areas of my life. Let me know if you'd like any details. Congratulations!

Thank you feather, lia and Dottily I really appreciate your encouragement, support and suggestions. I hit 600 dollars tomoz, but still need to get past day 26 which was the thorn in my side last time I quit. Feeling more upbeat tonight after putting a huge smiley face sticker on my star chart .dottily the mindfulness app sounds good . I would appreciate the details. Thank you and looking forward to seeing everyone staying on the quit journey . XXX
