hi members , i started Champix some time ago and then stopped taking it and started smoking again. Ive been going through depression for the last 6 months and needed something to help me feel better.

i really need to stop though as i believe i wont last much longer , i still have 5 weeks left of Champix and was wondering if i can start taking them again , its been about 5 weeks since i last took them.

my GP mentioned in a conversation that you can only have Champix every 6 months.

i think its incorrect or some government thing , cant i just pickup where i left off with the remainder of my Champix ?

Hi there. I'm sorry but I don't know anything much about Champix except what I've read from people here. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to start it up again though. I do have extensive experience in depression though and now know that smoking doesn't help depression in the slightest. In fact, I'm sure it makes it worse. Smoking doesn't help anxiety, stress or depression or anything else for that matter. It may seem that way but it's all lies. I've suffered from these things my whole life & since stopping smoking I have become much less stressed, less anxious and less depressed. Things just keep getting better. If I start to feel down I instantly want a cigarette as I think this will help but I have to turn my mind around knowing that it will only make things worse and I will spiral down further, then be back where I started. I never want to go back there. I know depression is a difficult thing to deal with but there are other, healthier ways to help yourself rather than to slowly kill yourself. It's not a very nice way to treat yourself by breathing in 4,000 poisonous chemicals! Be kind to yourself instead, go for a walk, play with the kids, take a long hot bath, read a book, meditate, put on some happy music or see a counsellor. I know what your saying, yes, it's easy to say, I know from first hand experience how hard it is myself and at times not even all the happy music in the world will pull you out of it but it's worth a try and anything has to be better than putting a cigarette in your mouth which does absolutely no good. I really feel for you, but if you can just get your head around it and take that first step...it will lead into the next and then the next before you know it you will be charging along, happy and proud to be a non smoker. You might be a depressed non smoker but a non smoker all the same and then you can deal with the depression properly and more easily with a clear head and clear lungs. You will be able to breath, taste your food, you'll have more money, you'll be healthier, fitter, stronger and more capable of dealing with your problems head on instead of hiding behind the stinky, lying, thieving smokes. They do and will steal your life away if your not watching. So anyway, I've rambled on enough, I hope this helps. Stress less without the cigarette! Be kind to YOU because you ARE definately WORTH IT - and good luck!

Hi I tried the champix for a few days but didn't like the side effects it gave me. There is a group online that can u tell u all about it and if u can pick it back up from where u left off they are really good on the site. If u have Facebook just type in champix and add the group they will be able to help you there cheers and good luck 😀😀😀

Please check with your Dr re Champix if you are on medication for your depression. I couldn't use it for this reason and he prescribed the patches and I am doing really well. so please check as sometimes the 2 medications DON'T mix well
