Hi you can def do it, it gets easier the more days u go into it, im on patchers which have helped so much, it still hard going down town with money, but if u have a reason why given up not just money cause its not a good enough reason to your mind as u get paid and your mind thinks well i have money now. Lol keep up the great work. Your doing great :)

Dearest Owl. I am today on day 12 & on day 1 I did a new budget which excluded alcohol & cigarettes. So far, I have saved $100 just on the cigarettes, probably the same if not more on alcohol! So....I took my savings out of the cookie jar into town yesterday, had some Ella Bache pampering, bought a gorgeous skirt which I love and a beautiful top which I love. Also bought a little surprise for the kids. I felt on top of the world, I would just never have done that previously - it felt so good. I haven't bought myself anything for years unless it was $2 at the op shop. I walked past the cigarette shop where I would have normally bought 2 packets of 50's that day instead & have nothing but bad breath & dirty ashtrays to show for it. Such a different feeling, instead of scurrying into the tobacconist hoping no one sees me, feeling guilty & going ouch did I really just hand over nearly $100 on 2 packets of cigarettes! panick & anxiety sets in - better get a drink as well to cover my stress at the thought of spending so much money, and it spirals from there & I wake up feeling crap. Don't have to do that anymore, it's great! So, Owl, when pay day comes save your money & spend it on YOU (the one who deserves it), don't give it to the company that's trying to kill you! Good luck

hi owl,

drink lot of water and flush your nicotine out. treat craving as a process of quitting. because craving means your brain starts to adjust without nicotine. as day passed this will also disapper.

Thanx Everyone!!

Today is day 6, i'v not had a smoke!!! Hubby has given up too so house is very quiet, (safer to not talk rather than possibly snap n cause arguments.. LOL) dont really get cravings as such, i kind of get flashback's or forwards and see myself lighting a smoke every now and then.. WIERD! Sleeping is horrible, go to bed and im awake, doze off and have 10 crazy dreams wake up and its only been an hour or so.... thats really the only issue So Far!.. I'v not put myself in a temptation situation .. yet, not been around smokers, smell or sights.. so that will be a challenge! im looking for a job and had to have a physical yesterday, thought i was going to die.. my body is worse than when i was smoking.. Im really proud of hubby and myself!! Thanx for the encouragement and congratulations on your quitting achievements! xx

The flashback stuff is not so weird, I do that too. I see myself with certain people or places & particular music reminds me of the me that smoked. I recall times when I had a break from the kids for a weekend & have flashbacks of me sitting in the lounge room with my pile of records, my ashtray & cigarettes and my drink, we'd have a great time together, yes, INSIDE the house! Those kinds of flashbacks & thoughts cause big cravings.
