OK alls been good for 56 days has been suprisingly easy with champix to become a non smoker but the weight gain I am miserable with, I am small statured person never had to worry aboiut my weight fit size 8-10 but I feel so FAT my clothes are tight to the point of needing to purchase larger sizes and I am absolutely miserable so this past week I have noticed how depressed I been feeling with the weight gain. I have taken up walking since week 2 of being non smoker and I walk 5 days a week not just strolling but power walking and it is doing nothing yes I feel good about doing it and I not breathless, as a smoker I never did any exercise.

So I been like well if I smoke I die from smoke related health issues weight gain going to be the same still going to die with obese related issues so whats the point really whether I smoke or not. I hate that the weight issue has become a problem but emotionally I not coping with it and phsically is the same. I am picking a bit more with food and try and have healthy options so I dont know what I am doing wrong. I really feel I should smoke again to stop me becoming even fatter.

I have beenlucky and have lost 1kg since quitting which is a huge thing for me because after losing 27kgs I was stuck losing the last 3. Anyway a few kgs isn't a huge deal its a lot better than cancer! But try some chewy really strong peppermint flavour that has helped me

Congratulations on your quit. I am 12 days in and just now starting to watch what I am eating and moving more..I think our bodies go through an adjustment period, being smoke free, I don't believe this will stick around. I am trying to drink more water now too. Don't give it all up, hang in there. I am too.

schedule 20 Dec 2014

I have been quit for 81 days. I gained 15 lbs and came out of a few of my clothes too. I worked out 5 days a week by doing cardio, running, and yoga. For one week now I have been run/walking 3 miles every other day. I slowed down my snacking and started paying attention to meal times. I make sure I eat at least 3 times a day. I sleep real good now too. I weighe myself a minute ago and I have lost 5 lbs. So hang in there I thhink a lot of it is just water retention and it will go away soon as your body regulates.

Just don't give up quitting smoking! A bit of weight gain is so much better than ending up with cancer. Keep walking, eating healthy and your body will balance out in the end. I've learned that chemically your body can take months to readjust to 'normal' after quitting. It just takes time.
