Side effects no smoking 35 days

Posted in Quit experiences
schedule 4 Nov 2014

I have not smoked in 35 days. Some side effects I'm experiencing are; really dry itchy skin, gasping for air occasionally it feels like I'm smothering sometimes. I excercise 5 times a week and I am slowly increasing my lung capacity. I've also been having vivid nightmares and I wake up scared! A classmate of mine took a closeup picture of me for my Facebook profile pic so I could show off my Younique 3D Lashes and ugh my skin looks horrible up close. I have brown spots and dark circles around my eyes. I have smoked for almost 20 years 1/2 a pack a day. I am happy that my body is healing yet concerned that the side effects may last forever! Another great thing is my teeth are whiter and I've gained 10 pounds. I also have more patience since I no longer have to rush off to smoke. Accept for nonsense....I have 0 tolerance for nonsense.

I'm also on day 35 today and I feel awesome. I know what you mean about the dreams, I've had a few really scary ones too, but also some really nice ones. I've generally been waking up every two hours, so I'm tired a lot. I have noticed that my skin looks clearer and my eyes look brighter and it can only get better right? I love not having to feel paranoid that I smell like an astray as well. Keep up the good work!

You too Trish! Im now on day 42 and I have noticed my skin is clearer! I think the dark circles were from crazy sleep patterns. I still wake up in the middle of the night but generally not from nightmares. I am learning to work through anxiety and stress without smoking so I believe this is what wakes me up...I am in my 1st quarter of a masters program in accounting. Before I use to smoke crunch numbers then memorize..Now I crunch numbers, breathe, talk to my animals, and memorize lol. All in all I feel Much better...but my body is still adjusting. My skin is still itchy at times but I've started using coconut oil for my skin and scalp and that helped a ton! I am no longer stuffing emotions which is allowing me to have meaningful conversations with people. I am reestablishing healthy boundaries which is now allowing more people in instead of shutting everyone out. This is a wonderful new way of living so far.
