Day 16 smoke free!

Posted in Quit experiences
schedule 27 Sep 2014

This will not be for everyone but this is the first time (of many multiple attempts) that instead of avoiding my coffee and wine as triggers I am still having them the same as prior to stopping smoking. It has gotten easier each time. I imagined putting my tongue in an ashtray while I was having my beverage and the thought and imagined taste was so gross! Being on the champix definately helped with this as I could barely stand the taste and smell of cigs by the second week. This is my 4th time on champix in 7 years (I was a heavy  smoker for 23 years) but this time is different, even prior to champix I'd starting having mints after each smoke to get rid of taste. I'm so happy and proud to be a non smoker!  I will never put a smoke in my mouth again and by not giving away my coffee and wine there's no lead up or nervousness about reintroducing them.

schedule 18 Mar 2016

I just woke up and this is now day 16 of a smoke free/nicotene free life. I gave up cold turkey and have reached this far and should be proud of myself. I'm 49 and have smoked since I was 14. A few years ago I gave up tobacco smoking and vaped instead but in the end I found out I was even more addicted to nicotene! This time I wanted to give up all forms of nicotene. I want to rid myself of the smoking/nicotene habit for good.

After having quit all forms of nicotene thus far, I'm now convinced that nicotene is the culprit in all of this. Nicotene is the trickster, promising you relief but only giving you more craving for nicotene itself. Am I craving for a cigarette on day 16? I guess I've thought about having a cigarette but I'm also reminding myself that the further I get away from smokes, the better it is going to be. I've told myself that I need to be free from cigarettes for a few months to be able to really feel the full benefits.

So, I look forward to making it through this day and having one more day under my belt!
