Nearly one month down and I'm still smoke free and also off Champix now too.

It's harder without Champix, I've had a few more cravings but they are manageable.  I just have to keep reminding myself that I really don't want one, and do something to put the thought out of my head for ten minutes.

One of my work colleagues still smokes and every now and then I get a whiff and it isn't pleasant, it really doesn't make me want to have a smoke.

Dealing with stresses at home too give me plenty of excuses to have a smoke and I somethimes find myself trying to justify having just one, but I know I can't do that.  I'm an addict and one is never just one.  I also tell myself that the issues that cause stress (no sleep, sick children, no sex etc etc) can't be fixed by having a smoke so there's no point.

I soldier on, it's certainly getting easier except for the moments of craving, they aren't any easier.

Congratulations on 29 days. You are two weeks ahead of me. From my past attempts at quitting I know that if I succumbed to temptation after not smoking for as long as you have one cigarette would make my head spin and I would wonder why I did that as it gave me absolutely no satisfaction at all. Your kids will benefit from your decision to quit, not only you.

Hi QuitFMKids - you are doing incredibly well at 29 days. One day at a time and it will soon be 29 weeks and those cravings will be totally in the past. Can I ask why you quit Champix early? And how long after stopping smoking? I'm only on day 3 smoke-free and thinking about tapering the tablets off already so would be very interested in how you got on. I thought after 29 days the physical cravings would have gone, even without Champix. I can learn from your experience if you don't mind!

Hey QFMKids, congratulations, a full month now, that is fantastic! You are so right, picking up a cig will not solve any of our day to day issues and we have to keep reminding ourselves of that, it will help with one of life's stresses though - finances! :). I once quit for 6 months and can definitely say - you can't have just one! I made that mistake and it took me another 10 years to quit again! We are addicts, just like an alcoholic, we can't have "just one". So stay strong you are doing amazing! A big congrats to you!

Hi Thisisit, I quit champix after I missed a tablet and spent two days annoyed with everyone. After some further research I discovered champix has anti-depressant qualities. I noticed changes in my mood which weren't pleasant for the peopke around me.

They helped me quit smokes so I'm thankful but I recommend to anyone that they quit champix as soon as they've done their job.
