Hey guys just a little update, I will be one month smoke free tomorrow! Feeling good! I like to measure it in cigs not smoked.  I averaged about 15 cigs a day so 28 days is about 420 cigs.  Well that just sounds so disgusting to me that it keeps me motivated to keep going.  I feel so much better, my skin has some glow back in it, eyes are brighter and I smell good and feel good.  I am scared for when I stop taking champix, but I am determined to be a non-smoker!  All the best to all of you on this journey, together we can do it.  This site has been so helpful to me, so thanks everyone for all your support!

Hi KAM

I'm day 27 tomorrow, so one day behind you. I can't believe that I have lasted this long! Like you, I feel healthier and really proud of myself. I too am taking Champix. I wish I had the same experience as others and didn't feel like a cigarette. I would love one!

Congratulations Cazza and KAM - you are doing brilliantly. Way ahead of me (I'm only on day 3 of Champix and yet to give up) but you give me hope and spur me on. I worry about being dependent on the tablets too, but plan to wean myself off them slowly when the time comes.

Hi Kam, Cazza, Thisisit

Im 345 days smoke free thanx to Champix, I smoked for +-30yrs +-20 a day. I was hit with the full Monty of side effects but I stuck it out for the full 3 months. Kam I was well into my 3 week when I set my quit date so do it at your own pace BUT also realize that it does take self discipline to quit, you have come this far and take my word it does become easier!

I replaced my habit with drinking water and LOADS of it. I tried to avoid anything that triggered my "need" to smoke, cut out morning coffee and started exercising. I also had beads on a string to keep my hands busy - lol its habit + addiction that you are quitting on.

My last 2 weeks I started weaning myself off the Champix, by having a half in the morning and half at night but again do this at your own pace.

The journey is not an easy one but I give you my word - its totally worth everything that you are going through at the moment.

Please don't give in to the "need" see it as a wave and ride it till it hits the shore or go for a brisk walk that would leave you a tad breathless.

Good Luck and all the best - you have come this far and its a lot further than what you used to be!

Great work! I'm on day 49 (7 weeks). I hardly crave at all now. I can wake up and my first thought is coffee rather than cigi. It gets so much easier. I did it cold turkey and really it's getting over the first 72 hours is the hurdle. after that it just gets easier.

Again, well done! If I can do this then so can you!!!

It's really interesting to read everyone's different experiences. My only side effect is the crazy, vivid, dreams but I havent experienced the reduced urge to smoke or the horrible taste like others. So, in my case, I really need the determination as well. I have tried not to change my habits too much, I still have a drink at night, because I didn't want to feel deprived of everything I enjoy. My motivation now is that I DONT want to fail and have to deal with all of this again. Giving up is a must, so it's best to get it out of the way now.

Also, I find myself feeling sorry for smokers because they still have this journey in front of them.

This site is truly helpful I agree. I have been reading and writing here for about an hour with NO cravings!

Yeah, the thought of smoking when I play it out in my mind is:- YUCK and VOMIT. NO WAY. DISGUSTING taste and smell. Forget it.

I'm a non-smoker now! I'm really a non-smoker. WOW!!! 50 days up today cold turkey
