Non-smoker for over two weeks

It's been a massive struggle but I have not had a ciggy for two whole weeks :)
(applaud and throw flowers if you want.)
Still getting a little teary, angry and anxious -but fee more in control after day 14.
On the weekend I even went to a pub, drank beer and sat in the outside area - Probably because I am a little cocky and was tipsy. But yay me - did not have a smoke.
And I am officially off the patches because they made me feel like I had a second addiction.
Pardon what may seem like a boastful post - but I am kind of proud of this achievement. (and really do want applaud and flowers).
Some tips:
Weight gain - a well-known but unwanted side effect. I have put on 3kgs. Plan ahead and surround yourself with healthy snacks - I wish I had.
Feeling Sad - Not being able to rely on a smoke is tough. I find playing happy music was the best distraction.
Chewing gum is your friend - You and chewing gum will be BFFs. The money I have saved on not buying cigs has been spent on gum of all flavours, colours and brands. But I find the ones that lose flavour quickly (think blue P.K) work best because you have to keep putting something in your mouth.
Places associated with smoking - Apart from the pub cockiness mentioned above, I have found not going to places where you used to smoke helps. Haven’t been on my balcony at home once in two weeks…working up to that one.
Anyway - good luck to all =) x

Good on you VickyV! I've only been a non-smoker for 3 days now and can appreciate what you have gone through. For what it's worth, here's a big bouquet of flowers for you and lots of pats on the back. Cheers.

Well done and keep up the good work. I like your advice to others and it seems you are doing so well. As I have stated prior in my stories the cravings will never go away but they will become so much easier to manage as time goes on. I play a game which helps me, its called "ME" Vs "MY BRAIN". Basically my brain keeps thinking that i want a smoke but I don't. My brain keeps trying to trick me but I am to smart for him. So i guess a lot of self talk and self motivation is the real winner. As above has said here's another bunch of flowers and big round of applauds to you. Keep up the good good work. I am now on day 44 and going strong after 36 years. So its good to see someone learning to stop quicker than I.

Vicky,
I really do APPLAUD YOU and give you the BIGGEST BRIGHTEST bunch of flowers. I have recently achieved 2 goals (not smoking related), 1: I was a nail biter for 38 years Success, I only have one nail to grow now, 2: I lost 12 kilos. Now I an quitting smoking, WE CAN DO IT!!!
What an awesome goal you have achieved :D
I have also been surrounded by other smokers and felt fine (5 days in).
CAN WE ALL DO IT ????
YES WE CAN :) :) :)
(Applause inserted, BIG, Bright bunch of Flowers also inserted) :) AWESOME WORK, Keep it up!!
