Day 2 1/2 ...

Hello
I put this down as day two and a half because it is not officially day 3 until 6.40pm tonight!
yesterday was a huge struggle. emotions running wild. problems here at home sparked my waving thoughts, emotinos have usually been my main trigger ...... stress, upsets, emotions, arguments, all the yucky stuff. and major yuck happened, to the point of hubby walking down to town and purchased "himself" smokes. all i could do is cry. i thought we were doing this together.
all the struggles we have had over past couple years all came washing back, oh how i wanted to give in an have a smoke.
but ...
other than his arrogance v's my whole "i wanna be strong" .. it was the smell that put me off. i simply dont want to go back to smelling like that. my first thought was my poor boys, having to put up with their mother each and every day smelling like that ............. ewwwww
this morning proved a new issue. hubby went to light up a smoke, outside of course, but where i was sitting peacefully enjoying the fresh air. he is oblivious to my struggles to not smoke as he gave in to his.
oh today will be a tense day.
:-(

Hey Kit Kat.. It is my day 2 and a half as well.. I am on champix .. Have you a smart phone? iPhone or samsung?… If you do download the free app called Cesation Nation .. Its awesome and helping me thru the hard bits .. We need to remember its a mind over matter .. and how much money are we going to save :) .. Keep each other posted.. WE are Now NON SMOKERS .. will be healthier … AND not so broke ! :)

hello mambogirl. thank you for your response. and welcome to day 2.5.
yes i have a phone (android) and have cesation nation on it. each time i have a go at stopping, i install it. each time i slip up and go back to actually being a "smoker" i uninstall it. so that is why this time i looked for somewhere different ... and much more interactive .. to help me.

My partner and I were supposed to give up together. However she decided she wanted to try other methods of cutting down and basically just kept smoking. At first she would leave her cigs around where I could see them and she would also smoke outside but I could still smell them and they smelt terrible! I became super sensitive to the smell of tobacco yet when I was smoking I didn't even notice the smell. I would continually ask her not to leave her cigs around where I could see them. I would also tell her every time I could smell them (even last night I was overpowered by the smell!) It has caused friction between us but I have stuck to my guns! I was not going to give up on giving up just because she wasn't going to join me on this journey. I became more determined than ever to be smoke free with or without her. The good news to come out of it is she is now on Champix and has reduced her daily smoking from around 25 cigs to 5 a day. We are all different and we all give up when we are ready. No matter how dissappointed you feel that he may not be on this journey with you, you just have to do it for yourself because you are ready. You never know, when he see's just how strong you are he may just follow your lead when he is ready. It's a challenge but it can be done! Good luck and take care.

Sorry about that the internet dropped out and when I got back in my comment was posted 3 times!

hehehe .. i was felling all important having that many responses! NOT.
Thank you William for your response and encouraging and understanding words
yesterday i was hurt mostly by the arrogance. Instead of talking, simply went and got them, with no regard to me. Unfortunately that sounds very shallow, and I agree it is very shallow of me to be talking like this, I am not usually as self pitying or self centred.
Today i am finding the smell most incredible, even with smoking only ever been and outside activity. because I am at home all day, and he works from home, well the smell is everywhere. I admit, he is helping with NOW not smoking around me, but I feel a bit let down as I am suffering the cravings, the emotions, and the anxiety on my own.
:-/

Hey KitKat5284, just remember everyone is different. I have been smoke free for 262 days now, yet am still recieving constant cravings. I realise it's a mind game now but it's still quite difficult not to give in (I haven't though).
The only thing's that are stopping me is my family, the smell after someone has had a smoke (did I really smell like that??) and the amount of money I'm saving by not smoking.
One bit of advice I read somewhere, is if your tempted to smoke just keep saying to yourself "tomorrow". When tomorrow arrives, say it again, then again and again. We'll see if that helps. Drinking water is another thing that's supposed to help the cravings but not me.
I still love the smell of someone smoking which is what's made it difficult for me. Having neighbours that smoke makes it all that more difficult too. Hang in there though, one day at a time! Hopefully your husband will give them up eventually, but he has to be ready for it that's the key thing. I don't think I am yet which is hard.

Thank you Adzzz for your comments, fantastic you have been smoke free for 262 days, what an achievement!
yes i agree everyone is different.
i have been reading a lot about what happens to your body and your feelings when you stop smoking. i am finding it such an emotional ride.
one day at a time, is all i can do.
stay strong!
:-)

hey dont give up stay strong its all in ya mind.just keep telling ya self u are a non smoker..good luck and hang in there...

Dear KitKat- Thank You so much for your kindness. My Husband bought me a yellow rose with our disposable income that I was saving for my Son's birthday. It's gorgeous. And thanks to cutting down I planted it myself without getting too puffed out. I have three habits to tackle. My habit, My Husbands habit, and the habit we have together. I am better at saying no. More often now we just sit outside talking without lighting up.
