Maybe I had withdrawal as I didn't check into the quit site over the long weekend, but I had a couple of REALLY BAD days. I am surprised I didn't cave actually.

Weird timing as I've had some dramas with banks while waiting to settle on a property which should have been stressful, but my hardest days were after it settled, when I was walking around getting a feel and assessing stuff. Could be cos I was trying to make myself think about what goes where, and the habit of having a ciggie while you think is pretty BIG!

Some of it actually felt a bit like physical withdrawal which I thought would be over now? Any clues how long the physical symptoms can stick around?

It could be a bit dangerous trying to get through life without thinking!!!

Hi Larch,

I don't know If I should be writing anything, but here goes.

I gave up for 1 month then stopped and smoked for a week or two.

I have now stopped again, on day 1. lol, anyway my point is I don't believe it's physical after about 1 week I believe it is all mental.

I find the mental game hard at times but you have come so far, and I had. I don't care any more that I had a long slip up as I am now doing it again. Yes each time you try it does get easier with everything you are feeling.

I hope I made some sense, well keep at it and good luck :)

Ps you would have deffinately been thinking clearer whilst you are NOT smoking.

smoking doesn't solve anything the problems will still be there the only difference is you will feel bad don't let the nicotine monster win be strong and have a positive mental attitude and you can beat anything.

Hi Larch, you are doing so well. When you feel stressed you feel it in the body, sometimes after the event, is over, and big changes in life too. Usually when you were stressed a smoke is what you reached for. It happens like that and your mind goes blank, finds it hard to focus, you will get past those, mental adjustments. I had a moments where I'd be on the phone nattering away and feel something is missing,do not know what it is, opening cupboard's and looking in my bag, like you forgot something. Then feeling sad, frustrated, agitated, tense shoulders, back of throat swallow, the usual feelings. The nicotine may be out of your system but the behaviour traces are still there. It can be emotional as well as mental. Everyone is different and smoked for different reasons. It all passes off, it's just getting used to new experiences without smoking. The first night out, after meals, to help focus and think, theses are all things we associated smoking with, keep the guard up, and stay positive , you are doing amazing and have come so far. Look after yourself.
