I have a confession to make, today I had a smoke at a party, i enjoyed the first 2 puffs, got head spins and smoked the rest thinking I dont really like this, why did I have it. It was a slip up but in a way Im glad because I now know I cant enjoy them anymore if that makes sense. Now Im more determined to stay off. I found the origin of cold turkey, it's American from the 1920's, meaning those addicts who went cold turkey would look pale and have goosebumps like a turkey from withdrawal symptoms. Hope everyone has been stronger than me today.

Hi Humble, I am not sure what to say but this.... Do not be too hard on yourself. It is all letting go. What have you learned from this experience? You need to look at this...is there a pattern? you go so far and then a craving...what did it feel like. You are so so capable of being smoke free. Re-evaluate the reasons why you want to be smoke free I am glad you did not enjoy the smoke it is not you anymore. I understand a place inside you needed to confirm that smoking is not enjoyable and by smoking that smoke tonight. I remember as a smoker I rarely enjoyed a smoke ...most of them were for the sake of it. That is the cycle of addiction. It is psychological. That was risky. I hope you continue and put it behind you, and keep going with quitting. One smoke leads to two, three. etc. Chin up keep going, focus on the future being healthier, look in that direction. You are in a tough period and you are doing well , we are all behind you. May I suggest that if you find yourself in a situation like that again that you distract away. You have come so far.

Hi humble if you made a week this time think about how far you will go with the start of a new week.

The other think that helped me this week is I downloaded a quit smoking app to my phone, it shows me the money I have saved external health how many minutes I have added to my life and how many cigarettes I have not smoked.

Great aid this week as it also shows my progress.

The other think was especially at the start of the week I remind myself that I am a non smoker not someone who is trying to stop.

I found having this mentality really helped.

That 'just one puff' has been the downfall of many a quitter - myself included. Don't be too hard on yourself - s**t happens - but you haven't quit quitting - so you have strength! Build on that - now you know you can do it!
