I have been smoking for over 40years, I gave up once for a year but I gained so much weight, I started up again. I have tried quite a few times. This time feels different, I have a different mind set. Before I would say to my self I was realy addicted, I  would do silly things, get very angry, It was hard for me and everyone around me. This time I have started using the patches, but have decided that I will chill out instead of getting angry, I still do silly th ings now and again and some times I feel like I am on a go slow but I dont worry I just go with it. I've decided that I want to be healthy and be able to travel around Australia when we retire. Now I will have more money as well, I dont know how we would have survived with me spending over $100 per week on smokes. I have not smoked for 12 days now and I feel great.

Well done caylene , sounds like you are "ready" to quit.

We can often give up but it is difficult enough till we are "ready"

Good for you Caylene, I know how hard it is. I gave up after 35 years and felt like I had lost my best friend. I am on day 59 and I can tell you it does get easier.

schedule 2 Dec 2012

I have also been smoking for 40 years and am finding it difficult to set (and keep) a quit day. I have gone from a packet a day to a packet a week but need to just make that final break away. Thank you for sharing your story, it is very helpful to me.
