5 things that helped me quit smoking

I don't know if these will help you but personally i find them very helpful in my journey of quit smoking. 1) Buy an antistress ball and squeeze it for 3-4 minutes every time that you REALLY feel like you are in need of smoking. 2) Download some 20-30 pictures of patients with lung cancer and other symptoms/side effects of smoking long term and look at these every time you wake up in the morning as a daily reminder of health risk to make your subconsious thoughts to stop connecting "cigarettes" with "enjoyment" but with "danger" instead. 3) Buy some chewing gums and chew them along the day to fool your brain that you have an oral activity that triggers your cheeks and mouth muscles similar to smoking. 4) Try to do lot (and different) activities in your free time to keep your brain busy and always focus at present time to avoid concrentrating on the bad habit you used to have. 5) Listen to your favourite music while walking near nature, this helps you realize that life is wonderful. :)

What a great post! I hope others will find it helpful.
It also helps immensely when you realize and finally admit to yourself that you may not really enjoy smoking, but continued to smoke to avoid the cravings for nicotine. Once realizing that we are capable of breaking this addictive cycle, we can proceed to end it.
I hope these sites provides some insight, ideas and support for those who desire change. I know that they were crucial to my success.
Believe, and think positive. You CAN do this!
