Hi Kathy. Smoking is a cycle too. The cigarette is the cause of our urges which we remedy by taking another puff. We are very familiar with "cravings as we have had them several times a day throughout our smoking life. There are but mere thoughts to feed the nicotine monster. We can break this habit by substituting a positive habit. (brushing teeth, gargling, deep breaths, kegals, bends, stretches, making a phone call, doing a puzzle, doodling) and thinking of all the negatives of smoking with every puff.

The breaking of these physiological habits is 90% of the battle. They are the keys to sustaining a quit. How are you choosing to kick nicotine to the curb?

Be comfortable while adjusting to the changes. Read, learn and practice. We were a long time smoking, take the time to quit and quit for good.

If you make cigarettes and inhalers, or e-vapes out of reach and smoke uncomfortably , you will cut down naturally. Perhaps then go on a lesser strength nrt. Knowledge is power. Mindset is key.

I now understand that you are 25 days smoke free with the help of Chantix. Good for you! At this point you have zero nicotine in your system and the nicotine sensors in your brain have all been shut down.

Once you are in the mindset, you could step off of the Champix. As long as you have no adverse effects from it, and it is covered and you are comfortable, then ride it out by all means.

I am glad that you have been following and learning, and hope to see you around the community!

I Thing with or without water your gonna have the urge to have a smoke. I think some people have an easyer time then others. It's easy to say the words I wont smoke but harder to follow with those words. I struggle (19 days) but I do a lot of walking, yoga or cleaning to make up for the time I would be smoking. I think the key for me is anything with deep breathing and use of hands helps with my cravings. Hard to want to smoke if your out of breath. Wishing you the best of luck.
