Struggling with Champix - Please Help!

Hey everyone!
I was a heavy smoker for 5 years and recently my husband had a health scare which has kicked us into quitting, I also wanted to quit to see my young daughter grow up.
Anyway, I started Champix nine days ago and decided on tuesday morning that I wasnt going to smoke, thank goodness I haven't had a cigarette since (and actually it hasn't been that hard to stay away from them)..
I started on the 1mg pill x 2 a day as it is directed and tonight the insomnia has really kicked in. Im usually asleep by 11pm and now it's almost 2am with no sleep in sight :(
Please help, is there anything I can do to stop this or prevent it being this bad? I have a toddler that I need to be energised for, I can deal with the other symptoms but I need to sleep :(

Hi Laura A,
Congratulations on giving up smoking I am on day 153 and have not touched a cigarette since the day I quit, I quit with Champix which were great I could not have done it without that help but I had made up my mind so that made all the difference. I had trouble sleeping so I took the night pill at 3pm with food and that really helped as I was working and had to get up at 3am which made it very hard. Keep up the champix and keep going and remember N.O.P.E and make sure you congratulate yourself every morning as it is another day of freedom from cigarettes, and you have done it.

Hi Gools,
Thank you so much for positivity and advice.
When you started taking the night pill earlier did you almost immediately find that you were able to sleep?
I will give that a go tonight! Thank you!
Congratulations on giving up smoking! I can't wait to even just reach my first week without one.

I had sleep trouble. I lay down for half an hour and cuddled my dog. Then I was up for another three hours. Sleep waves occur every hour. Every hour you will get a dip in your energy or a lull in your concentration. We need to take advantage of that lull and be ready to wind down. I lay down after three hours and managed to get to sleep. Keep resting.

Hi Laura A,
Yes taking the tablet at 3pm made a huge difference as I had to go to bed at 7.30pm to get up at 3am to go to work so had to think of something that would work and it did, keep going and keep positive and pat yourself on the back every morning and walk past the smoke counter at Coles it is such an achievement and you will feel so happy with yourself because you are not controlled by cigarettes anymore. Yes you can do it.
Lavender oil on your pillow case can help. So can chamomile tea. Also as your doctor what they can recommend.
