I have to Quit for Surgery

Posted in Getting started
schedule 30 May 2022

So here I am again......Trying to quit for the 3rd time. I'm trying or rather I have to keep my plan in place

schedule 30 May 2022

I hope that our stories and suggestions can help you to find your way this time.

Changing how you look at smoking can make a big difference. When you can actually see how you are giving up nothing and gaining everything, it can become something that you WANT to do rather than feel that it is something that you HAVE to do. As with anything , we accel at things we like to do and make excuses not to do what we prefer not to do.

You are a slave an an addict at present. You can change that, just as millions of others have. Start by seeing quitting smoking as a choice, and something that you want to do. Find your WANT to , and BELIEVE, because you can!

I do appreciate your advice, and support. I joined I can quit, because I think having either smokers or non smokers there to give you encouragement is extremely important. I live in a house with another smoker, and I'm not making excuses, but my initial trigger, is when I first wake up in the morning, and smell the 'smoke'. I thought the worst trigger would be after a meal, but I seem to be handling that OK. If I could just get past the craving first thing in the morning, I think I would be well on the way to getting past my 4 week and then life-time plan to stop altogether.
