schedule 18 Aug 2021

Hi Suziezinger, welcome! You certainly joined the right group!!! I'm not way ahead of you and I know it was hard for me and it still is hard for me but the battle eases a bit as the days go by. You must commit yourself to the fact you WANT to quit. Patches, gum,.. anything is a great start. However you do it, just DO IT!!! Congratulations Suziezinger, you took the first step. One day at a time!

Do it for yourself. Don't let cigarettes control you, for once YOU be in control of your life.

I find a bit of "pep" talk to myself seems to help and what has helped me the very most, is reading posts from this sight on a DAILY basis. Try using the search tool as well to focus on specific issues. I learn little lessons each and every time I dig into these posts. The non-smokers here have been kind enough to continue to support and coach us new non-smokers. Let them help you. Listen (read) and learn.

Continue to post and let us know how you are doing. I read some feel posting their feelings is very therapeutic. You are not alone by a longshot. EVERYONE had DAY ONE, the day two and so forth!!! Lean on us! N.O.P.E. (Not One Puff Ever). Best,...

Such great advise Robn! Awesome words!

Suziezinger, listen to the pros here. They know best and have been of great value to me personally from my day one to now, and I know I will rely on them in the future as well.

schedule 19 Aug 2021

Hello and Welcome.

We all started out just as you are, and we made it. Nothing special about us and nothing special about you. We just found each other and the support to first of all BELIEVE in yourself. With positive thinking, the climb is much easier. Learn the little tricks of deep breathing, keeping busy, knowing yourself and your triggers and above all keep thinking POSITIVE.

We think that this is hard because how many times have you heard that it was easy? My quit was, as was my husbands and daughters. We expected mild flu like symptoms when we went cold turkey, but isn't that a small price to pay for freedom?

So much freedom and so much to gain, and absolutely nothing to miss when you accept the facts.

Decide that you want to be free and spend your time and money on more important things. Not that smoking is important, but at least admit that there are more important things, should I be wrong. A member even proved to me that coming off of nicotine "cold chicken" is what she called it, and had no cravings whatsoever.

It really can be as easy or as hard as you choose to believe.

No one here will tell you they ever regretted stopping smoking. All are grateful for the new found freedom , better health and more money to enjoy on other things. I am sure you will agree!

We CAN quit smoking when we want to. Read and Learn. Think positive!

Hi suzizinger I sure hope you're hanging in there 🙏❤️

schedule 28 Aug 2021

Hello again suzizinger, Just checking in. I hope someday you will share you experience with us,... good, bad or indifferent. I just wrote to another QuitFam member just checking in. I found the words appropriate for you too. It's just a couple that I am checking in with,... I'm not a seasoned non-smoker, but I do know how it is and support is key. I hope to give you support.

DON'T GIVE UP. I am not sure where you are in your quit,.. countdown to quit day? Already "IN" the quit? In any event, as I said before keep on trying,... it will stick and when it does stick, it will be easier than any other time you tried. So, keep on trying until it "sticks".

It's so odd, now that I have become a "little" successful, I want to bring everyone along with me!!!
